Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang made his first post on his personal account on the X platform, expressing support for open AI models. Huang’s message was linked to decentralization and open infrastructure principles in the cryptocurrency sector.
In his first post, Huang published a joint letter, also signed by Nvidia, titled “Open Source and American AI Leadership.” Stating that artificial intelligence will transform every sector and company, Huang said that open models strengthen security and cybersecurity, accelerate the spread of innovation, and support the technological sovereignty of nations. Huang also added that the world needs both closed and open pioneering models.
The letter argued that the concentration of advanced AI capabilities in the hands of a small number of closed-loop model providers creates isolated failure points, weakens competition, and leaves critical technologies under the control of a few companies. It stated that open-loop models, on the other hand, allow researchers to study system behavior, identify vulnerabilities, and develop protection mechanisms.

The letter stated that relying solely on closed systems is not inherently safer, and argued that transparency, as seen in open-source software, can enhance AI security. It noted that open models allow for independent testing, benchmarking, and red team work. In addition to Nvidia, numerous organizations including Microsoft, Meta, IBM, Palantir, Mozilla, and the Linux Foundation also supported the initiative.
Bitwise consultant Jeff Park viewed Huang’s initial post positively in terms of the intersection of cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence. Park noted that while the CEO of one of the world’s most valuable technology companies didn’t directly mention cryptocurrencies in his first message, he emphasized the risks posed by centralized structures, transparency, and open infrastructure.
According to Park, the approach advocated in the letter—”distributed structure instead of concentration, transparency instead of closure, and open infrastructure instead of closed intermediaries”—is similar to the core idea of cryptocurrency networks.
