$XRP Trading Develops a Weekday Rush Hour
$XRP treasury company Evernorth shared Aug. 18 that weekday on-chain activity increasingly concentrates between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Coordinated Universal Time. Its X thread linked the shift with growing institutional interest, placing nearly one-quarter of weekday on-chain $XRP volume inside the three-hour overlap between London’s afternoon and New York’s morning.
Evernorth stated:
“$XRP’s on-chain market has been growing during banker hours, according to ledger data we looked at last week. It’s consistent with growing institutional interest.”
“Three hours a day (London’s afternoon, New York’s morning) now carry ~23% of all the $XRP that changes hands on-chain. A year ago it was ~14%,” the firm added.
The chart included in Evernorth’s X post shows a sharp July 2026 concentration of volume during the London-New York overlap, with $XRP activity peaking near 10% at 2 p.m. Coordinated Universal Time. The highlighted three-hour period captured 23.5% of weekday on-chain volume, compared with 14.3% during the same July 2025 window, indicating a stronger concentration around traditional financial-market hours.
Pattern Spans Three XRPL Trading Channels
The same intraday concentration appeared across order-book trades, automated market maker pools, and cross-currency payments routed through ledger liquidity, according to Evernorth. Official $XRP Ledger exchange documentation explains that offers function as limit orders, while automated market makers provide a separate route for swaps. Cross-currency payments can consume available offers while searching for an efficient conversion path.
Evernorth detailed:
“The same shift shows up across all three ways to trade on XRPL, including the order book, AMM pools, and cross-currency payments routing through them.”
Earlier Evernorth research found that activity involving the Ripple USD ($RLUSD) stablecoin had expanded across those market structures as its share of XRPL trading increased. The $RLUSD trading analysis reported roughly $900 million in $RLUSD–$XRP volume over six months, with order books processing about 80% of trades by 2026 after automated market makers previously held a larger share.
Broader adoption indicators have also moved alongside on-chain trading activity, although those measures do not establish who generated the three-hour concentration. $XRP ecosystem data showed approximately $4 billion in tokenized assets on XRPL, eight consecutive weeks of spot exchange-traded fund inflows and a roughly 40% increase in new wallets during late June.
Ledger Timing Suggests Institutional Activity, Not Proof
The London-New York overlap carries significance across global finance as both centers operate simultaneously, creating a major liquidity period for foreign exchange markets. A previous institutional XRPL transaction connected Ripple, Mastercard, Ondo Finance, and J.P. Morgan’s Kinexys through a tokenized Treasury redemption, demonstrating that established financial companies have used the ledger within coordinated settlement workflows.
Evernorth has a financial interest in expanding $XRP’s institutional role, making clear attribution essential when presenting its interpretation. The company’s $XRP treasury strategy centers on actively managing $XRP through a proposed public-market structure backed by Ripple and other investors. Its filings described more than $1 billion in expected gross proceeds and a planned Nasdaq listing.
Public blockchain records reveal transactions, timing, and market routes, but they generally do not disclose the identities behind participating accounts. The $XRP Ledger’s design enables rapid settlement, token trading, and cross-border payments through a decentralized network, allowing analysts to observe activity without confirming whether a bank, trading firm, individual, or automated system initiated it.
Evernorth noted:
“Nothing about $XRP closes at 5 pm. But we’re definitely seeing some rush hours.”
