Bitcoin and altcoins experienced sharp declines following the failure of the Clarity Act to pass in the US. While the question now is whether the decline will continue, analysts have begun to suggest a bottom has been reached.
Firstly, a CryptoQuant analyst using the pseudonym IT Tech noted that a pattern seen in past lows in the Bitcoin market is re-emerging.
Long-Term Bitcoin Holdings Are Increasing!
The analyst noted that with the increase in long-term Bitcoin holdings, a pattern seen in past market lows is re-emerging. The CryptoQuant analyst stated that the key metric in this cycle is the $BTC supply remaining dormant for six to twelve months.
This group’s share of the total cost of ownership rose from 16.2% on December 16 last year to 30.8%, while the share of those held for three to six months fell from 24.8% to 7.7% during the same period. According to the analyst, this means that investors’ short-term assets are shifting towards longer-term held $BTC.
The shares of $BTC held for 12 to 18 months and 18 months to two years also increased to 17.0% and 9.9%, respectively.
$BTC Isn’t Flowing into Exchanges, Similarities to the 2022 Bottom!
The analyst also noted that during the correction, $BTC remained in wallets rather than being transferred to exchanges, continuing a shift where short-term assets were converted into long-term assets. This is interpreted as investors preferring to hold onto their $BTC rather than send it to exchanges during the downturn, with some short-term investors moving into the long-term ownership group.
The analyst stated that he considers this pattern to be typically seen in the early stages of a bull market, and that a similar flow was observed before the 2022 market bottom.
The analyst also noted that $BTC is currently still 40% below its peak of $126,000 last October, but still well above its 2022 lows.
Therefore, the analyst considers the current setup to be closer to a temporary bottom formed during an ascending cycle, rather than the ultimate bottom of a full cycle.
Willy Woo’s Remarkable Bottom Analysis for Bitcoin!
On-chain analyst Willy Woo stated that there is a more than 90% chance that Bitcoin’s current structure signals a true market bottom. Woo’s assessment highlights the return of investor capital to the Bitcoin market and changes in its liquidity structure.
Woo states that while Bitcoin’s four-year cycle has been significantly indicative in the past, he no longer uses this model as a primary reference. The analyst believes that Bitcoin may become more tied to liquidity and debt cycles in traditional financial markets over time.
Woo concludes by stating that even if a bottom has formed, it is uncertain how long the new uptrend will last.
