Trump Media Scraps Original Prediction Market Idea for New Partnership with Crypto.com
The shift effectively kills the original version of Truth Predict before launch and offers a revealing look at where prediction markets are heading: increasingly mainstream, but also increasingly dominated by established exchanges with the regulatory infrastructure to operate them.
When Trump Media announced Truth Predict in October 2025, the ambition was considerably bigger. Truth Social was supposed to become the first social media platform with embedded prediction-market capabilities, allowing users to trade contracts on elections, inflation, interest rates, commodities and sports through Crypto.com’s Derivatives North America.
Now, Trump Media is stepping back from operating that experience itself.
Interim CEO Kevin McGurn said the prediction-market industry has become a “pretty crowded space with established companies,” while Trump Media wants to focus resources on its media business and proposed merger with fusion-energy company TAE Technologies.
Instead, Crypto.com’s prediction-market products will be promoted to Truth Social’s audience under a marketing agreement. Trump Media has also indicated it could explore similar arrangements with other prediction-market providers.
The decision is notable precisely because of Trump Media’s political reach.
Truth Social is closely associated with President Donald Trump and has a highly engaged audience built around politics and current events, which is exactly the kind of content that has helped prediction markets such as Polymarket and Kalshi explode in popularity.
That would seemingly make Truth Social an ideal place to build a native prediction product, but Trump Media’s retreat suggests that distribution may be more valuable than ownership of the underlying market infrastructure.
Running a prediction exchange means dealing with trading technology, market surveillance, liquidity, compliance and an increasingly contentious regulatory environment. Crypto.com already operates through its CFTC-registered derivatives business, allowing Trump Media to expose its audience to prediction markets without taking on the same operational burden.
That may become a broader model.
Prediction markets are moving away from being standalone crypto curiosities and toward becoming financial products distributed through mainstream consumer platforms.
For Crypto.com, the deal turns Truth Social into another potential customer-acquisition channel. For Trump Media, it may provide exposure to one of finance’s fastest-growing categories without having to build the machinery itself.
And for prediction markets generally, it suggests the next phase of adoption may look less like every company launching its own exchange, and more like established prediction platforms quietly becoming the infrastructure underneath everyone else.
