South Korea-based cryptocurrency exchange Upbit announced that it will open the altcoin API3 for trading in KRW and USDT pairs on August 19, 2025.
Upbit to List API3 on KRW and USDT Markets
According to the official statement, API3 will only support deposits and withdrawals via the Ethereum network. If users transfer funds via the wrong network, the process for refunding their assets may take longer. Transactions will begin at 5:00 PM on August 19th.
The exchange also announced that API3’s last closing price on the BTC market was 0.00000741 BTC, equivalent to approximately 1,197 KRW or 0.8605 USDT.
Upbit will implement certain restrictions to maintain price stability during the market launch phase. Buy orders will be restricted during the first five minutes of trading, and sell orders will not be allowed for prices 10% below the previous closing price. Only limit orders will be valid for the first two hours.
API3 is a project that aims to develop a decentralized API (Application Programming Interface) for Web 3.0. While traditional API services are typically provided through centralized platforms, API3 aligns this system with blockchain technology. This aims to provide dApps with secure and cost-effective access to real-world data without the need for centralized intermediaries.
According to experts, API3’s listing on Upbit will both give the project visibility in the Korean market and increase interest in Web3-focused infrastructure projects.
