XRPL Commons Unveils New Grants Initiative to Power the Next Generation of $XRP Ledger Builders
XRPL Commons has unveiled a three-track grants program aimed at accelerating innovation across the $XRP Ledger (XRPL) ecosystem, strengthening support for open-source developers, startups, and established blockchain projects as the network enters its next phase of growth.
According to the non-profit organization, the $XRP Ledger is moving beyond a centralized funding model toward an ecosystem where multiple independent organizations collectively back builders.
More than $550 million has been invested in XRPL since 2017, with XRPL Commons emerging as a key contributor through developer education, incubation, funding, and ecosystem expansion.
After training hundreds of developers, running The Aquarium incubator since 2023, and rewarding open-source contributors through its Glow initiative, XRPL Commons has now consolidated these efforts into a structured grants program that supports builders from idea to adoption.
The first track, Glow, rewards developers for completed open-source contributions rather than funding concepts. Eligible work includes developer tools, core infrastructure, technical documentation, security improvements, and protocol enhancements.
Since launching in October 2025, Glow has funded 11 projects spanning node management, transaction analytics, and post-quantum cryptography, with applications accepted quarterly through December 2026.
The second track is tailored for early-stage teams building on XRPL. It combines Make Waves, a 90-day competition rewarding projects that achieve the strongest user growth and on-chain activity.
Furthermore, the Aquarium, a nine-week incubator expanding online to reach global founders, and Early Stage Grants, which provide milestone-based funding to teams with products already running on testnet or mainnet. The focus is on supporting projects that can demonstrate measurable adoption while providing technical guidance and go-to-market support.
XRPL Developer Grants Fuel Enterprise Adoption as Network Growth Accelerates
The third track targets established blockchain products seeking to integrate XRPL infrastructure.
One of the first examples is LOBSTR, one of the Stellar ecosystem’s largest wallets, which recently integrated XRPL through a partnership with XRPL Commons, giving more than 1.5 million users direct access to the network.
XRPL Commons says these integrations are driven by XRPL’s enterprise-ready infrastructure, including a native decentralized exchange without MEV or front-running, a Permissioned DEX for regulated markets, built-in compliance features, escrow, payment channels, and cross-currency settlement.
Combined with 3–5 second transaction finality and fees measured in fractions of a cent, the ledger offers developers a faster and lower-cost foundation for building financial applications.
The grants program launches as XRPL adoption continues to accelerate. Messari’s Q1 2026 report shows the network has processed more than 3.7 billion transactions, with average daily transactions climbing 35.3% quarter-over-quarter to 2.48 million.
Tokenized real-world assets also reached a record $2.25 billion, up 124.1% from the previous quarter, reflecting rising institutional participation.
Momentum has also been reinforced by recent ecosystem partnerships. Alongside LOBSTR’s XRPL integration, RedotPay rolled out an XRPL-powered RLUSD card in more than 100 countries, allowing users to access stablecoin-backed credit without selling their $XRP.
Therefore, these initiatives have set the ball rolling, reinforcing XRPL’s growing position as a leading blockchain for payments, tokenization, and enterprise-grade financial infrastructure.
