$XRP Ledger Eyes Trillion-Dollar Tokenization Opportunity Amid AI and LOBSTR Expansion
The $XRP Ledger (XRPL) is rapidly evolving beyond its reputation as a payments network, emerging as a blockchain purpose-built for institutional tokenization.
As the market for tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) moves toward a multi-trillion-dollar future, the XRPL already offers the infrastructure financial institutions need today, not a roadmap of future upgrades.
According to Trensik, a platform focused on verified RWAs on XRPL, “Tokenization needs rails, not promises.”
Well, this message is weighty since it reflects a growing consensus that institutions require blockchain networks that are operational, compliant, and capable of settling high-value assets at scale.
Trensik argues that XRPL already delivers the five essential building blocks for institutional tokenization: native on-chain asset issuance, a built-in decentralized exchange (DEX), compliance features, three-to-five-second settlement, and $RLUSD, Ripple’s regulated U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin.
Therefore, these capabilities allow institutions to issue, trade, and settle tokenized assets, including U.S. Treasuries, real estate, private credit, and corporate bonds, entirely on-chain without relying on external protocols.
Transactions can be completed within seconds using $XRP or $RLUSD, reducing settlement delays, lowering counterparty risk, improving capital efficiency, and enabling 24/7 global markets.
Adoption is already accelerating. Tokenized U.S. Treasuries on XRPL have grown from roughly $50 million to more than $418 million over the past year, an eightfold increase that signals rising institutional confidence in the network for real-world financial products.
XRPL Gains 1.5 Million-User Gateway as AI Transaction Growth Looms
XRPL is also expanding its reach through ecosystem integrations. In partnership with XRPL Commons, LOBSTR Wallet, one of Stellar’s most widely used wallets with more than 1.5 million user, has added XRPL support.
Available on iOS and Android, the first phase enables users to hold and transfer $XRP and XRPL-issued tokens, manage multiple XRPL wallets, access full transaction histories, perform Stellar-to-XRPL cross-chain swaps, and buy or sell $RLUSD through integrated fiat on- and off-ramps.
The integration significantly broadens XRPL’s accessibility while strengthening interoperability between the $XRP Ledger and Stellar ecosystems.
RippleX also believes artificial intelligence will become a major catalyst for network growth. The company’s Head of Engineering recently projected that autonomous AI agent transactions on XRPL could increase from around 1 million today to between 10 million and 100 million over the coming years.
As AI agents increasingly execute payments, purchase digital services, and interact with tokenized assets without human intervention, they will require a blockchain that delivers fast, low-cost, and reliable settlement.
