Lumera Protocol, the AI-first Layer-1 that grew out of Pastel Network, has launched the Lumera Hub and a new permanent storage module called Cascade. Rolling out after Lumera’s mainnet debut, the Hub is meant to be the one place both developers and everyday users go to interact with the network, whether that’s storing files, running AI tasks, minting NFTs, staking, or voting in governance.
At its simplest, the Hub combines Lumera’s key features into a single, clean interface. Through it, you can store data permanently with Cascade, run agentic AI jobs via Inference, and verify digital assets with Sense, all while handling ordinary blockchain tasks like transactions and minting. The idea is to remove the friction of hopping between tools and make Lumera’s AI and data capabilities feel as easy to use as any modern app.
Cascade is the headline here. Unlike many decentralized storage approaches, it slices uploaded files into many small, overlapping pieces, encrypts them, and spreads those fragments across Lumera’s SuperNode network. Each SuperNode holds multiple encrypted fragments; if one goes offline or loses data, Cascade’s self-healing system pulls the missing pieces from other nodes and restores them. Lumera pitches this as a simple promise: pay once, store forever, tackling the usual headaches around long-term costs, availability, and censorship resistance.

Under the hood, Lumera is built as a high-performance blockchain focused on AI-driven Web3 use cases. It pairs a Validator-SuperNode architecture with CometBFT consensus and the Cosmos SDK, giving it native IBC compatibility. That stack is intended to let Lumera host decentralized AI services, trustless computation, and secure storage while staying interoperable with other chains, a useful trait as datasets and models become increasingly distributed.
The Hub’s combination of Inference, Sense, and Cascade signals Lumera’s bet that tightly coupling storage, computation, and verification will make life easier for builders. For teams that handle large datasets or model checkpoints, Cascade’s automated redundancy and repair could be especially attractive. For regular users, the Hub promises a simpler, more cohesive way to mint, stake, vote, and experiment with agentic AI without stitching together a dozen separate tools.
This launch is an early test of Lumera’s broader vision: to merge blockchain security and cross-chain interoperability with AI-native services to build resilient infrastructure for the next generation of decentralized apps. If Cascade can deliver on its “pay once, store forever” promise in practice, it may find traction among creators and projects that need trustworthy, censorship-resistant permanence.
