Injective’s next major chain upgrade has entered its final governance voting stage with near-unanimous support, according to proposal 701 on the network’s official governance record. The Meridian mainnet upgrade, submitted September 18 by a member of the Injective Labs team, has drawn roughly 99 percent “yes” support among voters who have weighed in so far. If it passes when voting closes September 22, the chain will halt at block 184394000, around 15:00 UTC on September 24, and resume on version 1.20.4 of the Injective Chain binary.
Regulated asset issuance on the Injective EVM
Meridian adds support for regulated token implementations to the Injective EVM, letting issuers embed compliance and transfer requirements directly into tokenized products. The Injective Labs team frames the change as a purpose-built foundation for compliant real-world-asset launches, tokenized equities, and new financial instruments that can be issued, traded, and settled onchain. New MultiVM capabilities keep those asset controls consistent across Injective’s native and EVM environments, while an exchange precompile gives EVM applications more direct access to the network’s liquidity and settlement layer. The upgrade follows earlier RWA work on the chain, including Pineapple Financial’s tokenization of $1 billion in mortgage records. It is the latest step in the network’s push to become a venue for regulated tokenized markets.
Private RFQ testing and stronger oracles
The proposal also lays groundwork for privacy-focused infrastructure, introducing early testing of private request-for-quote transaction flows. Those controlled environments are designed to give institutions access to onchain liquidity while shielding sensitive trading and order information, ahead of a broader privacy suite expected in a later upgrade. Meridian further tightens market execution, risk controls, transaction signing, and oracle processing, with improved oracle prioritization and relay validation aimed at more dependable pricing for tokenized equities, RWAs, and derivatives.

Voting on proposal 701 closes September 22 at 17:02 UTC. The approval figure excludes abstentions and can still shift before the period ends, and the September 24 target is a committed block height rather than a confirmed date until the vote concludes. The upgrade lands as Injective sharpens its focus on tokenized markets, alongside the 21Shares amended S-1 filing for a spot Injective ETF.
