Borrowing Against the Shares
SPCXc is Coinbase’s tokenized SpaceX equity exposure on Base. Under Dialectic’s published strategy, the vault deposits the tokens as collateral, borrows $USDC and allocates the stablecoins to approved onchain opportunities. Returns above borrowing costs accrue to depositors; the stock itself is not the source of that yield.
The live dashboard lists a separate “Makina Base Feeder DCM” position alongside the Aave collateral and debt. A Base transaction also records Starloop’s execution contract borrowing about 43,511 $USDC from the Equities Hub on Nov. 2, before the public launch announcement.
Dialectic says it can rebalance collateral, repay debt and move funds between approved strategies within Makina’s predefined permissions. Its strategy disclosure warns that borrowing costs can exceed returns and investors can lose principal. The dashboard lists a 0.49% annual fixed fee and a 15% performance fee.
A Small Vault Against Thin Exit Liquidity
Aave’s executed listing proposal sets a 55% collateral factor for SPCXc, a maximum liquidation bonus of 6.5% and a 37,000-token supply cap for the lending spoke. SPCXc is collateral only, not borrowable. These are lending-market limits, not a promise that Starloop will maintain a particular borrowing ratio.
The exit constraint is the one The Defiant documented during the listing proposal. In its Oct. 15 assessment, LlamaRisk estimated that the proposed cap was about fifteen times SPCXc’s decentralized-exchange depth at a 2% price impact. It expected larger liquidations to require issuer redemption or a perpetual-futures hedge rather than an immediate sale on Base.
Market closures add another complication. Aave Labs’ technical assessment says SPCXc’s Chainlink feed holds its last value during closed market hours even as the token continues trading on Base. The same assessment found redemption restricted to six authorized addresses.
