Saylor’s ‘Bitcoin Drive’ Post Revives Buy Expectations
Strategy Inc. (Nasdaq: MSTR) Executive Chairman Michael Saylor reignited speculation that the company will announce another bitcoin purchase on Monday after posting “Bitcoin Drive engaged” on Aug. 2. The Sunday message accompanied Strategy’s familiar acquisition tracker, continuing Saylor’s pattern of signaling treasury developments shortly before weekly disclosures.
Saylor’s accompanying tracker displayed Strategy’s bitcoin reserve at 843,775 $BTC with a market value of approximately $53.25 billion. It also showed an average cost of $75,653 per bitcoin, an unrealized performance of -$10.58 billion (-16.58%), and 113 purchase events as of Aug. 2.
A similar Sunday signal preceded the company’s July 27 announcement, when Saylor posted “We’re gonna need another color” before Strategy disclosed a larger cash reserve. The timing reinforced expectations of another Monday treasury announcement.
Ledger Shows Recent Purchases Followed by Bitcoin Sales
Strategy’s live ledger reflects figures at the time of publication, while Saylor’s chart was captured earlier on Aug. 2. It lists 116 reported treasury events and 843,775 $BTC acquired for approximately $63.69 billion at an average price of $75,476 per bitcoin.
The ledger shows two recent bitcoin sales totaling 3,588 $BTC, including 1,363 $BTC and 2,225 $BTC, which reduced Strategy’s holdings from 847,363 $BTC to 843,775 $BTC. The company completed the sales to fund preferred-stock distributions and replenish its U.S. dollar reserve, according to its SEC filing.
Recent disclosures also show Strategy made no bitcoin purchases during the week ending July 26 while increasing its U.S. dollar reserve to approximately $3.75 billion. The larger reserve increased estimated coverage of preferred dividends and debt interest to about 2.1 years.
Monday Update Could Mark a Return to Accumulation
Financial stakes remain high after Strategy reported an $8.33 billion operating loss for the second quarter of 2026, reversing $14.03 billion in operating income during the same period a year earlier. The results included an $8.32 billion unrealized loss on the company’s digital assets, compared with a $14.05 billion unrealized gain in the second quarter of 2025.
Management can also generate up to $1.25 billion through additional bitcoin sales to fund the dollar reserve, which supports preferred dividends and debt interest. Monday’s expected disclosure will therefore show whether the “Bitcoin Drive” message signaled renewed accumulation as Strategy balances its 843,775 $BTC treasury against expanding cash obligations and active capital management.
