Saturn 2 Ballot Results
Polls closed Oct. 13, 2026. Shares of voting power cast, not voter counts. Random selection is the final instant-runoff result; RPIP-85’s winning share is the vote against inclusion. Source: RocketDash.
Withdrawals Can Trigger Validator Exits
Under RPIP-71, holders would deposit rETH into a withdrawal queue. $ETH from new rETH mints would first fill withdrawal requests, while validator exits could cover larger shortfalls. Queued rETH would stop earning staking rewards, and requests could not be canceled.
The draft initially targets legacy minipools for liquidity exits, with the oracle DAO selecting them and a recommendation to prioritize higher-commission pools. A later phase, activated by governance, would turn to megapools—contracts that group an operator’s validators.
The winning random-selection criterion, which received 59.2% in the final instant-runoff round, gives each eligible megapool validator an equal chance of being picked for exit. That means even well-performing validators could be exited to fund withdrawals. Operators whose validators exit for liquidity would receive priority reentry tickets, allowing them to move ahead in the deposit queue when demand returns.
Bond Cut Put Aside
The bond decision, backed by 85.4% of voting power cast, preserves operators’ 4 $ETH contribution toward each 32 $ETH validator. It sets aside RPIP-42’s planned 1.5 $ETH bond for validators beyond an operator’s first two, without adopting the alternative increase to 6 $ETH or its use of operator rewards to top up bonds.
Rocket Pool general manager Darren Langley wrote in his bond ballot that “increasing the bond to 6 $ETH feels too disruptive.” Operators therefore retain their current capital requirement rather than gaining the planned reduction or facing a higher one.
The RPIP-85 ballot drew 83.4% against inclusion. Deferring the proposal postpones support for more flexible onchain signaling votes. RocketDash remains the recognized platform for those polls, and the ballot leaves RPIP-85 open for reconsideration in a future upgrade.
The next steps are to incorporate the results into the proposals and begin the sentiment-poll and ratification process for the full Saturn 2 package. RPIP-71 schedules the withdrawal queue to open 28 days after the upgrade implementing it is deployed, giving node operators time to update their software.
