Ripple has unlocked a massive volume of XRP tokens from its escrow today, which is in line with the monthly schedule.
However, the latest unlock has come with a mysterious message that has intrigued the XRP community. Notably, popular market tracker Whale Alert highlighted Ripple’s January 1, 2025, unlock in a post on X.
Details of Ripple’s Latest XRP Unlock
According to the update, 500 million XRP left Ripple’s escrow account for an unknown destination today at 06:57 (UTC). At the time of the transaction, the unlocked tokens were valued at $1.07 billion.
The unlock occurred at the “Ripple 25” wallet, which saw its balance rise to 1 billion tokens shortly after the unlock.
However, Ripple dispatched the received 500 million tokens to another wallet, “Ripple 13.” Interestingly, Ripple has locked the 500 million XRP tokens in escrow within this recipient wallet.

Notably, at press time, the January escrow execution has only registered the unlock of 500 million XRP. Since Ripple typically unlocks 1 billion tokens, the second batch of releases is expected before the end of the day.
Mysterious Message Follows Ripple’s Unlock
Meanwhile, accompanying the 500 million XRP unlock transaction was a memo with a message stating that January 20th is around the corner and that President-elect Donald Trump will be in the White House. The author added that with Trump’s arrival, “we are going to make crypto great again.”
This message has intrigued members of the XRP community, particularly as it hints at optimism for a promising year for crypto in the U.S. with Donald Trump as president.
Indeed, Trump has promised to make crypto great in America during his presidency. He is already following through with key pro-crypto appointments ahead of his official inauguration.
Now that Ripple’s escrow transaction carries this promising statement, it has sparked excitement within the XRP community. Many interpret it as further confirmation that a major bull market is coming for XRP and the broader crypto market.
Ripple XRP unlock memo
It is worth clarifying that the memo accompanying the escrow transaction did not originate from Ripple itself. This has been a recurring theme over the years, with notable occurrences during the July 2024 unlock and another in May.
