Alex Scoresby, founder and CEO of Kapcrew Gaming, the studio behind the multi-chain board game Pixudi, recently participated in NeoPod’s fifth community AMA. During the wide-ranging conversation, Scoresby revealed that Neo N3 and SKALE are now the only two blockchain integrations still active for Pixudi, down from roughly ten.
The AMA, hosted on NeoPod’s Discord server, covered Pixudi’s development history, its use of NeoFS for decentralized storage, the game’s free-to-play philosophy, and plans for an expanded multiverse of game boards.
The game and its builder
Kapcrew Gaming has built products and campaigns that have reached more than 30 million users across its full portfolio.
Pixudi is a race board game built on blockchain technology. Players compete to reach the finish line first by overcoming obstacles and completing missions. Development began roughly a year and a half before the game’s first meaningful public release in November of 2023, drawing initial inspiration from Heroes of Might and Magic and Mario Party, and later evolving to combine elements of both.
The game is free to play, a design principle Scoresby applies to the project’s blockchain features as well. On the role of NFTs:
A player should be able to enjoy the game without first becoming a blockchain expert. The technology should support the experience rather than become the entire experience.
He acknowledged that the period of aggressive $NFT hype has passed and suggested the future may involve something closer to a cross-chain certificate of ownership rather than chain-specific tokens. Blockchain, in his view, should be used only where it genuinely improves ownership, portability, or trust.
Neo as a long-term home
Pixudi has integrated with roughly ten chains over its history. Only Neo N3 and SKALE remain active today. Scoresby described what keeps him building on Neo in terms that went beyond raw technical performance:
A blockchain ecosystem is not only transaction speed or technical specifications. It is also the people who answer messages, test products, create content, make introductions, and remain present after the first announcement.
In a separate addition to the same answer, he put the point plainly:
But right now we HAVE ONLY 2, $NEO and SKALE. So I hope you understand what it means and how we think about $NEO. $NEO forever as it exists.
Neo ecosystem tools and resources
Scoresby highlighted one reason his team selected Neo: the additional features the ecosystem offers. Pixudi uses NeoFS, Neo’s decentralized file storage network, to store metadata, visual assets, and player information associated with the product. NeoFS distributes file storage across a network of nodes rather than centralizing it on a single server.
Additionally, Scoresby has leveraged other resources in the ecosystem to help build out the team’s vision. Pixudi has received GrantShares funding to launch on Neo in 2023 and grants to travel to Centre Point #1 in Dubai and Centre Point #2 in Singapore.
Multiverse and roadmap
The next stage of Pixudi’s development centers on what Scoresby calls the Pixudi Multiverse: a system of game boards designed to offer players varied experiences across different locations, stories, and visual styles. He compared the concept to an earlier era of gaming:
I often compare Pixudi boards to cartridges for an old game console. The basic experience remains familiar, but every board can introduce a new world, story, visual style, characters, items, mechanics, and strategic possibilities.
Near-term plans include new boards, quests, tournaments, progression systems, seasonal activities, and character development. Each partnered chain is intended to receive its own boards, events, or collections rather than just a logo placement.
On AI, Scoresby took a measured view of how the technology fits into professional work: “The machine does not become the professional. Professionals learn how to use the machine.”
He described ongoing work in procedural content generation, localization, and player personalization, and indicated that something AI-related is being prepared specifically for the Neo ecosystem. However, no details were shared.
In the longer term, Scoresby is developing a concept for a physical card-and-board-game version of Pixudi. The physical product would function as a standalone game while connecting to the digital world via QR codes and NFC chips, enabling it to interact with digital systems when tapped by a device.
