Ethereum Exchange Reserves Reflect A Changing Market Structure
Data from on-chain analytics firms indicates that exchange-held $ETH has declined from nearly 35 million coins in 2020 to roughly 14.5 million today. In general, lower exchange balances reduce immediate selling pressure, as fewer tokens remain available for trading.
The shift comes as Ethereum’s ecosystem expands following its transition to proof-of-stake. Millions of $ETH remain locked in staking contracts, while institutional custody solutions continue gaining traction. Long-term holders appear increasingly reluctant to move assets back to exchanges.
Historically, declining exchange reserves have often preceded periods of stronger price performance when demand increases. Although previous market cycles do not guarantee similar outcomes, many investors view shrinking supply as a supportive signal for $ETH valuations.
Futures Traders Maintain Bullish Momentum
