In a recent discussion, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson addressed criticism regarding AI-generated content recently posted on its official social media account.
Hoskinson highlighted an immense exploration ongoing with AI agents even as development of Midnight City continues.
Midnight City is an interactive AI simulation and testing platform for the Midnight Network, which models a living society where autonomous agents work, trade, and generate economic activity, enabling users to view transactions through public, auditor, and regulatory lenses.
According to the Cardano founder, the Midnight City Team has been experimenting with AI-generated influencers, one of which was posted on the Input Output (IO) X account. This was done in good faith just to showcase new things and their possibilities, but it was met with a negative reaction.
Future of marketing
Hoskinson highlighted OpenClaw, an AI agent platform, as one of the fastest-growing open-source projects in history. Given the challenge of, or inability to have, a community management team or a media communication team that scales linearly with the population of the people, this creates a need for AI agents.

“We’re going to need agents and AI to be able to organize and sort all that out and broadcast on a regular basis what’s going on in Midnight City,” Hoskinson said.
“So, it’s important that we invest in and understand where the state of the art is. So we’re always looking at where the future is going with AI CMOs, where the future is going with broadcasting and also how to make these things very lifelike,” Hoskinson stated.
This remains important as Hoskinson indicated that adding capabilities like agentic trading and affiliate relationships could bring millions of users to Midnight.
“It’s why it’s one of our most important projects and we’re leaning into it and integrating every single AI standard. We’re going to explore and experiment where this technology is going,” Hoskinson said concerning Midnight City.
