BTQ’s post-quantum stablecoin security positioned for LINE’s 196-200 million users via Kaia

Terms of the Commercial Agreement

Under the deal, BTQ will collect a portion of transaction fees generated by QSSN-secured activity on Kaia. The company expects first-year revenue in the six figures (USD), with the total payout over the three-year term scaling alongside transaction volume rather than staying fixed. That structure means BTQ’s upside grows or shrinks with real usage on the network, not with a static contract value.

Significance of the QSSN Deployment

Beyond the initial revenue, the agreement connects QSSN to established counterparties and a potentially large pool of users and transaction activity. Olivier Roussy Newton, Chief Executive Officer of BTQ Technologies, said the agreement “advances BTQ’s strategy of making post-quantum security part of the infrastructure that digital finance runs on.” He added that the deal “establishes a recurring revenue model for QSSN and brings our technology into the wallet and settlement infrastructure of a major consumer ecosystem,” calling it a foundation for expanding into “additional wallets, stablecoin issuers, and payment networks.”

Post-Quantum Security for Kaia Blockchain and Unifi Wallet

QSSN protects stablecoins at the account level across the entire Kaia blockchain, which means coverage extends to assets held in LINE NEXT’s Unifi Wallet without the issuer needing to take any separate action. This account-level approach is what allows a single deployment to shield multiple tokens and applications at once.

QSSN Integration at Account Level

Because protection sits at the chain level rather than inside each individual app, tokens like $USDT, JPYC and IDRP on Kaia are covered automatically. Sam Seo, Chairman of Kaia DLT Foundation, said Kaia “was built as settlement infrastructure for stablecoins across Asia, and infrastructure has to be ready for threats that are years away, not just the ones in front of us today.” He added that integrating QSSN at the chain level lets the ecosystem “strengthen the security of stablecoin issuance and settlement for every application in the ecosystem at once, rather than asking each one to solve it alone.”

Unifi Wallet as a Consumer Use Case

Built into LINE Messenger itself, Unifi functions as LINE NEXT’s non-custodial stablecoin wallet, reaching an app used by roughly 196 million to 200 million monthly active users throughout Asia. Users can create wallets via social login and carry out deposits, payments, transfers, reward earning, fiat conversion and remittances, with $USDT, JPYC and IDRP already integrated as supported stablecoins. Because Unifi users hold those assets directly on Kaia, the wallet is positioned to inherit QSSN’s protections without any product-level changes, making it among the first consumer use cases for post-quantum stablecoin security at consumer scale. Woosuk Kim, Chief Strategy Officer of LINE NEXT, said “Unifi already supports stablecoins from Japan, Indonesia and beyond, and that footprint will keep growing,” adding that Kaia’s integration of QSSN should give “Unifi and its users a stronger, post-quantum-ready foundation for that growth.”

Kaia Blockchain Ecosystem and Market Reach

Kaia is the settlement layer behind this deployment, and its scale is a big part of why the agreement matters. This blockchain emerged from combining Kakao’s Klaytn network with LINE Tech Plus’s Finschia network, resulting in an Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible chain connected to two of the largest messaging platforms in Asia.

Merging Kakao’s Klaytn and LINE Tech Plus’s Finschia Chains

That merger gives Kaia direct ties to KakaoTalk and LINE, connecting it to a potential user base spanning South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia and other markets. It’s this consumer-facing footprint, more than raw blockchain specs, that makes Kaia an attractive testbed for quantum secure stablecoin network infrastructure rather than a niche experiment.

Stablecoin Settlements Across Asian Markets

Kaia describes itself as built for stablecoin settlement and onchain finance across Asia, supporting remittances, payments, foreign exchange, yield and tokenized assets on one network. Native $USDT went live on Kaia in May 2025, and the ecosystem is now exploring KRW- and JPY-backed stablecoin infrastructure as regulatory frameworks in Korea and Japan continue to develop. The Kaia Wave initiative has drawn more than 700 project applications, with an expanding set of consumer applications already live inside LINE Messenger.

Blockchain Performance Metrics

From a technical standpoint, Kaia achieves one-second block times and can handle up to 4,000 transactions per second, performance levels that matter significantly for a network designed to support consumer-level payment activity rather than sporadic transfers. Combined with 99.9% uptime since 2019, according to Kaia, those numbers underpin the case for layering post-quantum stablecoin security directly into the chain rather than bolting it onto individual apps.

Building a Recurring Revenue Model and Growth Prospects

This is where the deal’s commercial logic becomes clearer: BTQ isn’t just licensing software; it’s taking a cut of the activity it protects. That distinction matters because it means BTQ’s financial outcome is now linked to the success and growth of Kaia’s stablecoin ecosystem, not just to a signed contract.

Economic Participation in Secured Transaction Activity

BTQ is positioned to gain from its portion of transaction fees as adoption expands and both user numbers and transaction volumes rise across LINE NEXT, Kaia and offerings such as the Unifi Wallet. Christopher Tam, President and Head of Innovation at BTQ Technologies, said “post-quantum security needs to be deployed at scale, with economics that support its adoption.” He added that linking revenue to transaction volume “aligns BTQ with Kaia: we grow as QSSN-secured activity grows,” describing the agreement as a move that “advances QSSN from pilots into a recurring revenue model on infrastructure built for consumer-scale use.”

Expansion Plans Across Wallets and Payment Networks

Both companies frame this deployment as a template rather than an endpoint. The plan is to expand QSSN toward other wallet providers, stablecoin issuers and payment networks in the region, treating the Kaia and Unifi launch as the commercial proof point for those upcoming discussions.

Prior QSSN Collaborations and Pilot Programs

The agreement builds on earlier groundwork BTQ laid in Korea. Earlier, the company noted that QSSN had been chosen as the primary post-quantum cryptography provider for a proof-of-concept involving Finger Inc. and iM Bank, built on the Kaia mainnet and characterized as South Korea’s first bank-led won-denominated stablecoin infrastructure to include post-quantum cryptography. BTQ additionally noted that Finger became an early participant alongside Danal in the QSSN pilot program, broadening its footprint across commercial payments, banking infrastructure, enterprise IT, hardware-based security and regulated digital asset infrastructure in Korea.

Why this matters going forward: as quantum computing advances, the cryptographic assumptions underpinning digital wallets, tokenized assets and transaction authority will eventually need to change, particularly for long-lived assets and administrative controls. QSSN is designed to make that transition at the transaction and settlement layers without disrupting how users already interact with their wallets. If the Kaia and Unifi deployment scales as planned, it could serve as the commercial proof point that determines how quickly other stablecoin issuers and payment networks across Asia decide to adopt similar protections.
