Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has announced significant updates to its token categorization process, expanding the Tracking Tag to new tokens, removing others, and updating Seed Tags for several assets.
Binance Updates Tracking and Seed Tags for Select Tokens on January 2, 2025
These changes will come into effect on January 2, 2025, following the platform’s final project review.
Tokens Added to Tracking Tag
The following tokens will now carry a Watch Label indicating higher volatility and associated risks:
StormX (STMX)
TROY (TROY)
Tokens Extracted from Tracking Tag
The following tokens have demonstrated improved stability and performance and will no longer carry a Tracking Label:
Convex Finance (CVX)
Sun (SUN)
Tokens Extracted from Seed Tag
The following tokens will have their Seed Tag removed to reflect their maturation in the ecosystem:
Arkham (ARKM)
Blur (BLUR)
Jito (JTO)
Celestia (TIA)
What Do Labels Indicate?
Watch Label: Tokens marked with this label exhibit higher volatility and risk. Binance periodically reviews these tokens to ensure they meet the listing criteria. Failure to do so may result in delisting.
Seed Tag: Typically applied to newer or experimental projects, removing this tag indicates that these tokens are now more established.
Users must complete a risk awareness test and agree to Binance’s Terms of Use every 90 days to trade tokens with Tracking or Seed Tags. These measures are intended to ensure users are aware of the risks before they start trading.

Binance evaluates the following factors during periodic project reviews:
The team’s commitment to the project.
Levels and quality of development activity.
Trading volume and liquidity.
Network security and stability.
Responding to public communications and due diligence.
Proof of ethical behavior and contributions to the crypto ecosystem.
User Guidance
Tracking and Seed Tagged tokens will be clearly marked with a risk warning banner on Binance’s Spot, Margin, and Markets Overview pages. These updates provide greater transparency and protect users from high-risk investments.
