In a recent Twitter community space, Binance Co-founder He Yi revealed that only a few meme coins will survive, despite the numerous memecoin projects seeking or achieving listings on Binance. Yi also clarified that being listed in Binance Alpha does not guarantee eventual listing on Binance.
Yi stated, “A few memes will survive, but most will return to zero. Whether it is VC coins or memes, Binance has a list of hundreds of hot projects, but some projects have issues with their token economic models, and some platform data is inflated.”
She also highlighted the risks associated with certain memecoin projects and Binance Alpha’s role in addressing these challenges. Yi explained, “We have heard rumors of insider trading during the observation process. Therefore, we will place these hot projects in Binance Alpha (observation zone).”
Yi emphasized that while the observation zone provides a chance for certain memecoin projects, inclusion in Binance Alpha does not guarantee a full Binance listing.
Focusing on the utility aspects of crypto tokens, Yi noted, “A project can only generate income and profit when it is beneficial to society, and its uses can be shared with users.”
Binance Alpha Listing Update
Earlier today, Binance Alpha announced its first batch of projects: MONKY, RIF, HappyCat, ZRC, and ELIZA (ai16zeliza). However, shortly afterward, the Binance team changed the Telegram group link and denied the accuracy of the initial listings.
Later, Binance Wallet, He Yi, and others shared updated Telegram channel links on social platforms, confirming that the incident was caused by a mistake from Binance’s Chinese official account.
Binance officials have stated that the first batch of five projects will be announced at 18:00 Beijing time on December 18, with a notification sent 10 minutes before the launch.

Yi also shared that the Binance Coin (BNB) ecosystem remains one of the mainstream ecosystems supported by Binance Alpha. However, she clarified that Binance Alpha’s support is not limited to the BNB ecosystem; other popular public chain ecosystems will also receive support.
