Payment channels similar to Bitcoin (BTC) Lightning are coming to Cardano (ADA) by means of a new state channel architecture dubbed Cardano Lightning. Currently in pre-production deployment, the system was presented in detail during an August 24 Cardano Community livestream featuring PolyCrypto software engineer Ilja von Hoessle. At its core, Cardano Lightning consists of bidirectional payment channels that allow two parties to send and receive payments directly. He warned that failing to seat enough committee members could create a governance bottleneck. As a result, Cardano could be unable to…

After making a respectable gain in July, Bitcoin entered August, but historical data indicates that the market may be about to enter one of its most erratic times of the year. Every swap on a decentralized exchange leaves a small mark behind: a price that no longer matches the wider market. That gap, tiny as it usually is, quietly funds an entire industry of arbitrage bots and MEV searchers. New research from the MEV-X research team, working with academic collaborators from HSE University, digs into exactly how much value gets created by these micro-dislocations, and who actually ends up keeping it. The findings point toward a specific answer for AMM fee optimization: pools that charge nothing on arbitrage trades capture the most total value, even though that sounds backwards at first…

Anyone who wants to check whether a crypto platform is authorised at all in the European Union sooner or later comes across an official register built for exactly that purpose. The European securities regulator ESMA has maintained a register of non-compliant firms since February 2025. It is meant to collect, across Europe, those providers that supply crypto-asset services without the required permission. We downloaded the register file on August 16, 2026, counted it line by line and called up every web address stored in it individually. The result sits awkwardly beside the European ambition of this register. Of 167 entries,…

The world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder has responded to a multibillion-dollar blow to its balance sheet in trademark fashion as Strategy chairman Michael Saylor posted the laconic message “Bitcoin Drive engaged,” which the market may interpret as a signal that the company’s forced defensive phase is ending and that it could soon return to major cryptocurrency purchases.
