OpenAI’s second-quarter revenue rose 18% from the previous quarter to $6.7 billion, but its operating loss, including stock-based compensation, widened from $9.3 billion to $12.3 billion, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Tuesday. Meanwhile, rival Anthropic more than doubled its revenue to $11.6 billion, reported a small adjusted operating profit and overtaking OpenAI for the first time. OpenAI’s relative slowdown was attributed to weaker ChatGPT growth in the WSJ’s report, price cuts, cautious corporate spending and competition from cheaper Chinese AI models. OpenAI has responded by reshuffling senior leadership, expanding co-founder Greg Brockman’s operational role and unveiling a product…
Aptos and Sui both run on the Move programming language, but they process transactions in very different ways. Aptos uses an account-based model with a parallel execution engine called Block-STM, similar to how Ethereum tracks balances. Sui uses an object-centric model, where every asset is a unique object with its own owner, which lets independent transactions run side by side without waiting on each other. Both chains trace back to the same source: engineers who worked on Meta’s Diem project before it shut down in 2022. Why Do Aptos and Sui Share the Same Roots? When Diem folded, its engineering…
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse was seen at today’s White House crypto summit. The Ripple boss appeared alongside administration officials, top financial regulators, and other major industry leaders. Garlinghouse did not deliver a speech, and the administration’s mention of Ripple was brief. Hence, XRP did not experience an immediate breakout. Keeping innovation on American soil The White House has made it clear that it wants domestic crypto businesses to operate with confidence. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chair Michael Selig echoed the administration’s pro-innovation stance. “The era of political lawfare, debanking, and regulation by enforcement is over,” Selig said. “Innovators like…
Galaxy has partnered with industrial safety provider Total Safety to establish 24-hour fire, rescue and emergency medical coverage at its Helios Data Center Campus in Dickens County, Texas. The agreement places paramedics, emergency medical technicians and rescue personnel at the campus as Galaxy expands Helios from a former Bitcoin mining facility into an artificial intelligence and high-performance computing center. Galaxy said the dedicated service is intended to reduce pressure on Dickens County’s volunteer emergency responders. However, the company has not disclosed the contract’s financial terms, staffing level or date when the full service becomes operational. Galaxy adds dedicated responders at…
Digital asset infrastructure provider Taurus has integrated its tokenization and custody platforms with Swift’s blockchain-based ledger. Taurus said Wednesday in an announcement shared with Cointelegraph that its clients can connect their existing digital asset infrastructure to the ledger for payments using bank-issued tokenized deposits. The first client integrations are expected to go live within days, with the first distributed ledger technology transactions facilitated through its platforms expected within weeks. Swift announced in July that the ledger was ready for initial use, with 17 banks across six continents preparing to pilot live transactions using tokenized deposits. Standard Chartered and HSBC have…
Bitcoin’s price is on the move today, prompted by the latest developments on the US-Iran war front, but this time in the opposite direction. After it slipped to another multi-week low yesterday evening, the cryptocurrency has rebounded by approximately $1,500 and now sits at around $63,500. The reason for this is the major de-escalation announced by the POTUS hours ago. US President Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social, that although his country’s military remains “locked and loaded” to continue attacking Iran, they were asked by the Middle Eastern country and other nations in the region to pause…
Strategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, reported that 12 of its top 15 institutional shareholders expanded their positions in the company’s stock during the second quarter of 2025. Combined, these institutions added approximately $1.2 billion in MSTR holdings, signaling sustained confidence from major financial players despite broader market fluctuations. Key Institutional Moves in Q2 Goldman Sachs recorded the largest increase among the institutional holders, boosting its MSTR position by $407 million. Capital International Investors followed with a $346 million increase, while BlackRock’s Ireland unit added $98 million. These moves reflect a broader trend of institutional accumulation in companies with…
XRP ETF trading volume hit an all time high and $1.57 billion in cumulative flows tells a different story than the price
Seven spot funds now hold nearly a billion tokens. Daily volume broke $125 million on August 20, then $200 million across three sessions by the weekend. The infrastructure is scaling faster than the market has priced. Seven exchange traded funds, seven issuers, and a fee war that has pushed expense ratios to levels the bitcoin ETF market took months to reach. The trading volume record on August 20 did not arrive in isolation. It came alongside the largest weekly inflow since May, a whale accumulation wave visible on the $XRP Ledger, and a derivatives market that swung from a short…
The United Kingdom is reportedly moving toward treating stablecoins more like traditional money for tax purposes, with draft guidance suggesting that disposing of stablecoins would not trigger capital gains tax. The update was highlighted by Aave founder Stani Kulechov, who noted on X that Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) guidance indicates stablecoin disposals would be excluded from capital gains tax, while any interest-like income generated from holding stablecoins would be taxed as savings income starting in April 2027. What the draft guidance means According to Kulechov, the plan is still in draft form, but it represents a significant shift…
Sui has announced official support for KuCoin Web3 Wallet, allowing users to manage assets within the Sui ecosystem directly through the wallet. The integration marks a step forward in cross-platform accessibility, as Sui highlights that transactions on its network reach finality in under one second—a key differentiator in the blockchain space. What the Integration Means for Users With this integration, KuCoin Web3 Wallet users can now connect to Sui-based decentralized applications (dApps) and manage tokens, NFTs, and other assets without leaving the wallet interface. This removes a significant friction point for users who previously needed to switch between multiple tools…
