The concerns about quantum computers have emerged again, with veteran crypto researcher Justin Bons warning that they could crack Zcash ($ZEC) and Monero ($XMR). In an update shared by Bons on X, the crypto researcher claims that these privacy-focused coins are at risk. How quantum computing could deanonymize privacy coins Notably, Bons explained that quantum computers can “deanonymize” and crack the elliptic curve cryptography from exposed public keys. Generally, a public key becomes visible when a user spends funds from their wallet. A quantum computer could solve the complex math behind that key and derive the private key. With this,…
Veteran crypto advocate Erik Voorhees, an early supporter of Bitcoin and founder of ShapeShift, has repurchased a significant amount of Ethereum after selling a large stake roughly one year ago, according to on-chain data shared by analytics account Lookonchain. Summary Erik Voorhees repurchased 9,911 $ETH for $20.38 million at an average price of $2,057, according to on-chain data shared by Lookonchain. Roughly a year earlier, he sold 11,616 $ETH for $33.94 million at around $2,922, effectively buying back at about a 30% lower price. The move follows his recent diversification into tokenized gold, signaling a broader strategy of tactical timing…
Circle (CRCL), issuer of the $USDC stablecoin, continues to surge, now 45% higher in less than two sessions following its Wednesday fourth quarter earnings report. The move snapped what had been a brutal 80% drawdown from record highs hit last year. While the company delivered strong growth in $USDC supply, the stock’s outsized reaction was driven more by crowded short bets heading into the print than by strong financials, analysts suggested. “The magnitude of the move was not driven purely by the headline numbers. The real catalyst was positioning,” said Markus Thielen, founder of 10x Research. Hedge funds had built…
Allegations against Jane Street have recently intensified after a lawsuit tied to the Terra collapse accused the firm of using advanced trading tactics in crypto markets. But while the Terraform case is still being argued in the United States, India had already taken regulatory action against the trading giant months earlier, banning four Jane Street entities from Indian markets in July 2025. Terraform Lawsuit Rekindles Manipulation Debate The recent filing by Terraform’s plan administrator in Manhattan federal court accuses Jane Street of insider-style trading and front-running around the 2022 Terra collapse. The claims remain unproven, and Jane Street has denied…
A large crypto trader lost roughly $8.2 million after a leveraged bet on the $ARC perpetuals market unraveled on the decentralized derivatives platform Lighter, forcing the exchange to tap its backstop liquidity and trigger auto-deleveraging to manage risk. In a series of posts on X, the platform explained that the whale built a very large long position over several days, pushing total open interest in the $ARC ($ARC) market to about $50 million, while roughly 600 traders and market makers took the opposite side. The trade began to fail when $ARC’s price dropped around 6:00 pm ET on Wednesday. About…
Quack AI announced today that its signature-based execution layer, Q402, is now live on the Avalanche C-Chain, a move the startup says will make agent-driven applications feel native on one of the fastest L1 ecosystems. In a post on X, the team framed the deployment as a milestone for “verifiable, policy-aware execution” that leverages Avalanche’s sub-second finality and builder-first tooling to scale real-world agent usage. Quack AI says the release brings three headline features to the Avalanche developer community: a “Zero Gas Barrier” that allows ERC-20 settlements without requiring users to hold AVAX for gas, a “Sign-to-Pay” flow that decouples…
Ansgar Dietrichs: zkEVM could be Ethereum’s biggest transformation, enhancing scaling by optimizing verification, and the shift to mandatory zk proofs will boost network efficiency
Key takeaways zkEVM technology reduces computational effort by allowing nodes to verify blocks without re-executing them. An upcoming Ethereum fork is on the horizon, though not imminent. The zkEVM era could be Ethereum’s most impactful era due to its scaling benefits. zkEVM addresses blockchain scaling issues by optimizing verification processes. Transitioning to synchronous verification could lead to significant performance improvements. Galaxy is a leading platform offering diverse financial products in the digital asset space. Emerging markets may offer higher yields than traditional DeFi. Bitcoin’s decentralized verification leads to computational redundancy across blockchains. Zero-knowledge proofs could reduce redundant computations in blockchain…

As the U.S. Senate Banking Committee opened its routine hearing on oversight of the bank regulators on Thursday, a flurry of crypto topics had already dominated the conversation, including a significant stablecoin policy proposal from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. On the eve of the U.S. banking watchdogs’ testimony to lawmakers, the OCC issued a proposal to address most of its rulemaking requirements under the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act, the stablecoin law signed last year. The package of policies would institute standards for U.S. stablecoin issuers, such as their reserve requirements,…
