Aave V3 is expanding to Aptos as its first blockchain outside the EVM ecosystem. According to the team, the protocol is coming to the Aptos testnet with a potential release on the mainnet. Aave founder Stani KULECHOV emphasized the utmost importance of the launch for global adoption of the protocol and to solve the problems of siloed liquidity.
Instead of the familiar Solidity EVM language, Aptos uses Move and its associated virtual machine to execute smart contracts. It champions a completely different approach to blockchain modularity and transaction parallelization. Alternative virtual machines are often cited as one of the hottest crypto trends of 2025. Before expanding to Aptos, Aave had launched 13 blockchains in the EVM ecosystem. It processes $33 billion in net deposits, processing hundreds of millions of dollars every month.
In addition to the Aave V3 rollout, the Aptos (APT) ecosystem is listing Tether (USDT), the largest stablecoin, on the IDO launchpad. MoveGPT, Aptos’ flagship launchpad for early stage token fundraising, now supports USDT transactions on Aptos. Of the $137 billion USDT issued, nearly $450 million in equivalent are minted on Aptos. This means that the blockchain is responsible for 0.3% of the liquid USDT supply.
