FIFA Rivals, a mobile Web3 soccer game Mythical Games, announced Monday its first club partnership with German Bundesliga team Borussia Dortmund.
The multi-year collaboration will bring exclusive Borussia Dortmund content to the iOS and Android game throughout the 2025/26 season, including digital player cards featuring current squad members such as Karim Adeyemi, Serhou Guirassy, Nico Schlotterbeck, and Gregor Kobel.
The team-up will bring various fan engagement features into FIFA Rivals, including official team kits as collectible items. The game will also host giveaways featuring in-game collectibles, match tickets, and physical merchandise.

“Partnering with Borussia Dortmund is a big moment—not just for FIFA Rivals, but for the broader vision we have at Mythical,” Mythical Games Head of Communications Nate Nesbitt told Decrypt. “BVB brings an incredible fanbase, deep history, and unmatched energy, and that’s exactly the kind of DNA we want infused into FIFA Rivals.”
“You’ll start to see custom in-game events, major giveaways, branded content, and community activations that put the BVB experience front and center for our players and BVB fans,” he added.
To start the partnership, FIFA Rivals is hosting a special giveaway week through August 24, offering free Borussia Dortmund player card packs to all users who log in daily during the promotional period. The game will also hand out official team emblems, and sell premium emblems that come with a stat boost.
Borussia Dortmund Managing Director Carsten Cramer said in a statement that the FIFA Rivals deal “creates a unique bridge between the digital and real worlds, enabling us to connect with our fans around the world in innovative ways.”
Nesbitt said that Mythical has seen an “amazing” response to FIFA Rivals so far, racking up more than 1 million downloads since the June launch. As with NFL Rivals, in-game assets are minted as NFTs on Mythos Chain, a Polkadot-powered gaming network, and currently tradable via a web-based marketplace. Mythical is working to bring trading into the game itself, too.
“We’re seeing real momentum build across the competitive side of the game,” Nesbitt told Decrypt. “What’s particularly encouraging is how well the community is starting to embrace the digital ownership model, which has really shifted their gaming experience. We are greatly looking forward to the marketplace coming directly into the game soon.”
