Solana may be the chain to offer some of the long-awaited airdrops in 2025. In the first days of the year, Solana users can already access SonicSVM, which will start trading on January 7.
Solana is one of the chains closely watched for top airdrops in all of 2025. As early as January, several events are already close to token distribution or trading. Following the Magic Eden and PENGU airdrops, Solana is preparing for more high-profile projects. Solana is prepared for several Season 2 airdrops as well, including Sanctum, DeBridge, Drift, Grass, as well as Kamino Season 3.
The new year hype helped Solana return to $208.48, after a recent dip to the $185 level. Solana ended the year with peak activity and fees generated, showing its ecosystem is ready for new startups and tokens.
Solana airdrops often offer easier tasks, and may be the preferred mode of earnings, after a year of complicated and expensive Ethereum-based airdrops. In the past 12 months, Solana also posted peak activity in multiple sectors, potentially making more wallet users eligible for rewards as they interacted with DEXs and other protocols.
In the first week of January, the Sonic SVM will release its SONIC tokens, already prepared to launch trading from January 7. Sonic is a Solana Virtual Machine project, targeting the builders of games and apps.
The SONIC airdrop arrives within a short time span, after being announced on December 31. SONIC is now in the process of being prepared for trading, with OKX and KuCoin listings. The project will offer a new toolset to launch more AI agents on Solana. Recently, Sonic partnered with Injective for cross-chain composable AI agents.

Sonic plans to build the first rollup scalable chain on Solana, compatible with the Solana Virtual Machine. While this solution is more common on Ethereum, the recent rise in AI agent tokens has raised the bar for transaction speed and reliability. Solana, while scalable, may require extra steps to avoid failed transactions. As AI agents prepare for more on-chain actions, Sonic is trying to build the additional infrastructure before an even larger inflow of projects.
SONIC tokens will launch with 15% of their supply, slowly expanding with unlocks over a six-year period. The project is still relatively new for the Solana ecosystem, but may gain exposure as the first scalable chain linked to Solana.
In addition to Sonic, EclipseFND offers a similar type of project, though this time simulating Solana’s ecosystem on the Ethereum blockchain.
Solana offers ongoing and new airdrops
Kamino Finance, one of the leading DeFi protocols on Solana, has opened Season 3 for its airdrop activities. Kamino has five open quests, and has already been tested in two previous seasons.
Other confirmed airdrops include Open Loop Network, which only requires a browser extension download. KRAIN AI offers points for creating an account and adding friends. Node Wars awards points for gaming, while DracoFi requires staking to award a potential airdrop.
The other long-awaited airdrop is the second season of Jupuary, which will award 700M JUP by the end of the month. The airdrop will balance between stakers, old holders, and new swap users.
The final conditions of the airdrop are still discussed, as swap users demand more tiers to be eligible. Otherwise, Jupuary requires relatively high trading volumes to be eligible for even a small token allocation. Jupiter swap users often have wallets with $1,000 to $20,000 in trading volumes, and demand that the airdrop allocation does not neglect this user tier.
Several of the high-profile airdrops have been farmed for months since 2024. The most awaited event is still unconfirmed – the native token of Pump.fun. However, it will remain one of the big expectations for 2025, as meme traders keep up their activity.
Other long-awaited airdrops on Solana include Meteora and Monad. SoLayer, Sanctum, TheVault and other small DeFi protocols are also closely watched for signs of an airdrop.
Kaito AI is seen as a relatively minor airdrop, but it may have the biggest social media footprint. Kaito is issuing ‘yap points’ for social media engagement. The airdrop is virtually free and is accessible to all social media users, who connect to other influencers and engage with Kaito.
