1confirmation founder Nick Tomaino, one of the leading names in the cryptocurrency world, said in a statement on the social media platform X that he believes Ethereum (ETH) will one day surpass Bitcoin (BTC).
In his post, which began with the words “ETH will surpass BTC,” Tomaino compared the current position of Bitcoin and the potential of Ethereum.
Tomaino stated that Bitcoin was initially a cryptocurrency established by and for the people, and that this feature brought it to a value of $2 trillion. Stating that the “store of value” feature built on trust in mathematics is revolutionary, Tomaino conveyed that Bitcoin has become an institutional asset preferred by large companies and states today.
Tomaino criticized the lack of useful applications on the network that attract new users, noting that a single company owns more than 2.5% of the Bitcoin supply.
Tomaino said that Ethereum hosts innovative use cases such as decentralized finance (DeFi), stablecoins, NFTs, prediction markets, decentralized social networks and identity systems, and that these applications both include new users in the sector and increase the value of ETH by making it rarer.
Stating that Ethereum stands out as a native and neutral store of value for the internet, Tomaino said, “Maximalists say there will only be one neutral, internet-based store of value. They are completely wrong. There will be many options, but there are only two valid options today: BTC and ETH.”
