Nova Wallet, together with Mercuryo, Quicko, and Mastercard, has launched the first debit card for the Polkadot ecosystem. Now, users can top up the new card in crypto DOT and use it for daily purchases, with the tokens being converted into fiat currency.

Thanks to the collaboration with Mercuryo, Quicko and Mastercard, the main wallet of Polkadot is ready for the launch of the new product. This is a huge milestone for the Polkadot ecosystem and adds a new way for everyone to interact with their DOT tokens
In fact, users can top up the new debit card in crypto DOT, and then spend them for their daily purchases. With each expense, the DOT tokens are converted into fiat currency.
At the moment, the Nova Wallet card will be available only for users in the European Economic Area, with the aim of expanding to other regions as well.
This means that the fiat currency denominated is the euro (EUR). Not only that, the new Nova Wallet debit card can be added to users’ Apple Pay or Google Pay wallets.
In this way, European users are more facilitated both for the DOT/EUR conversion with every expense and for contactless payments wherever they are.
Nova Wallet: the Polkadot debit card available in Europe
Thanks to the Mastercard circuit, the new Nova Wallet Polkadot debit card can be used in over 150 million commercial establishments worldwide.
On the Nova Wallet app, then, users will be able to view the transaction history, thus improving their financial management.
Not only that, always through the app, the card can be blocked instantly, thus protecting oneself in case of loss, theft, and from any unauthorized use.
The Nova Wallet card has spending limits of €5000 for a single transaction, €10,000 for daily transactions, and €40,000 for monthly transactions.
To issue the new card, Quicko has taken care of it, ensuring a safe and reliable experience. The new solution marks a significant step forward in increasing the adoption of Polkadot worldwide.
The price of DOT
Polkadot (DOT) is currently the 23rd crypto, with a market capitalization of 6.61 billion dollars.
At the time of writing, the price of DOT is $4.17 and it is in a pump of 3.8% compared to 24 hours ago. We are still very far from the price of over $10 reached by DOT at the beginning of December 2024.
That price has not been reached again even last February, when the news emerged that Grayscale submitted its application to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (or SEC) to issue its ETF on Polkadot.
In any case, DOT is still very far from its all-time high of November 2021, when it had surpassed the $50 threshold.
