The Head of Community at the XRPL Foundation and dUNL validator Vet announced the upcoming launch of native lending and privacy tools on the $XRP-oriented blockchain, publishing a detailed breakdown of the forthcoming upgrades.
In short, XRPL is switching to a fully autonomous mode and rolling out a built-in DeFi stack that will allow institutions and retail investors to operate directly out of the box, bypassing third-party smart contracts, bridges, intermediaries and additional fees.
In addition to the network’s existing DEX infrastructure, including an order book and AMM, as well as tokenization and compliance controls, the XLS-0096 amendment introduces the concept of “accountable privacy” based on the Multi-Purpose Token (MPT) standard.

The technology encrypts balances and transaction amounts from third parties while preserving transparency for issuers and regulators. The tool is also enhanced by Permission Delegation, which allows banks and funds to securely delegate trading on private DEXs (pDEXs) to their traders or bots without exposing wallet private keys.
XRPL’s lending sector is being developed through the XLS-65 and XLS-66 amendments, while its main commercial driver is Ripple’s official partnership with DeFi platform Clearpool and asset management firm Cicada Partners.
The alliance is launching institutional lending pools backed by the native RLUSD stablecoin, or Ripple USD, where major market participants will be able to borrow at fixed interest rates directly through the ledger.
How the new features will change life for $XRP holders
For retail $XRP holders, the integration of this stack opens up three direct opportunities. First, the XLS-65 amendment, which introduces single-asset vaults, allows ordinary users to deposit their coins into liquidity pools and earn interest from lending alongside major funds.
Second, the launch of Clearpool credit lines brings institutional capital into the ecosystem and increases total value locked, or TVL.
Third, the integration of digital credentials through XLS-70 allows users to complete mandatory compliance checks for access to liquidity pools with a single click while keeping their personal data completely hidden from third parties.
According to Vet, developers built this entire infrastructure throughout both bull and bear markets with one goal in mind: once the amendments are approved, retail $XRP holders and major funds will be in the same boat, gaining access to liquidity, loans and data protection directly at the wallet level rather than through workarounds provided by third-party applications.
