The Hamster Kombat community was on the moon when the team announced they are going to do the biggest airdrop in the history of crypto. The game launched in March 2024, soon gathered 300 million users and out of which around 102 million were active monthly players. Amidst multiple controversies Hamster lost 15 million players in the month of August. However with the announcement of the Token generation event and big promises, Hamster quickly reached 104 active monthly participants. Community was excited for September 20 when season 1 was ending and the collected points would convert to Hamster tokens. However this did not go as the community expected, causing them to go furious about the team’s unfair token allocations. Let’s dive deeper to understand what happened.
Fake Promises
The Hamster Kombat team has been making big promises to the community for a long time, however they were not fulfilled. The Hamster community was so active and engaged with the project that it helped the team to make multiple Guinness book records. From getting one million subscribers in record time to becoming the biggest Telegram channel, Hamster received support from dedicated players. The airdrop is happening on September 26.
As season 1 ended on September 20, the system converted all the points players had collected into Hamster Token. The result did not come out as expected. Most of the players received between 200 to 1000 $HMSTR tokens causing the community to bash out. Out of the 300 million players, the hamster team marked 131 million as qualified, while it excluded 2.3 million from the airdrop for being cheaters.
Hamster Kombat Mislead Community
The project team initially informed users that all the tasks in the game are equally important and the players should focus on increasing their “Profit Per Hour”. Near the end of season they introduced the concept of keys and said the keys are very valuable. Nobody provided a clear concept behind it. The community was very concerned about the referral system in the tap to earn game. Players could only unlock various cards in the game by getting a specific number of referrals. When asked about the role of referrals, the team simply said it to be a normal metric and will not affect the earning much. On September 20, as people started getting allocation for the $HMSTR token, people were angry to see that for the tasks they have been doing for months, they were provided peanuts.

As people started to post their allocation screenshots on social media platform X(formerly Twitter), it became evident that YouTubers and Influencers got high allocations. Reason was very clear from the screenshots, people with high referrals got high allocations. The system will vest about 12% of the tokens allocated to players, unlocking them 10 months after the token listing. They did not provide this information before.
Hamster Unfairly Banned Players
The team banned about 2.3 million players, claiming they were cheaters. Near the end of season 1, the Hamster team introduced an anti-cheating system. A lot of players received the cheater card which resulted in them getting excluded from the airdrop. The reason ; getting too many keys. When this mini app introduced keys, they were said to be of high value so the community started spending more time on collecting keys. The Hamster team had partnered with multiple mobile games that users had to download and play to get keys. And these keys got them banned. This makes absolutely no sense at all.
What’s Next?
Community is very unhappy with the project and is asking the Hamster team for transparency and re-evaluate the airdrop distribution. Amidst this chaos, the project team has introduced “Interlude Season”. This is a transition phase from season 1 to season 2. People are calling it the “Worst allocation” in history. It looks like the so-called biggest airdrop of history came out to be a scam. The team got huge engagement from the community on their app and social media and in return broke the community’s trust and hopes. It would be interesting to see if Hamster Kombat provides any clarification and how many players will support them for season 2.
