Eliminating Custodial Risks via RGB and Lightning
Solv Protocol, an onchain Bitcoin asset management platform with more than $2 billion in reserves, announced a strategic integration April 15 with Utexo, a non-custodial settlement layer built on the RGB protocol and Lightning Network. The partnership introduces what the companies describe as the industry’s first bitcoin-native yield powered by atomic swaps between bitcoin ( $BTC) and Tether’s $USDT directly on Bitcoin’s rails.
According to a media statement, the approach eliminates wrappers, bridges and custodial dependencies while maintaining self-custody, privacy and settlement finality. The move follows Tether’s August 2025 announcement to issue $USDT natively on RGB-compatible Lightning rails.
Solv participated as a strategic angel investor in Utexo’s $7.5 million seed round, led by Tether and other investors. Both parties identified a gap in production-ready infrastructure to support scalable, native stablecoin settlements on Bitcoin and Lightning.
With the Lightning Network focused on faster settlements and broader asset support in 2026, Solv’s integration with Utexo positions bitcoin yield for institutional use, enabling seamless, bitcoin-anchored financial flows.
Capturing Institutional Demand
Traditional bitcoin yield solutions often require users to compromise custody, privacy or settlement integrity. One of the advantages of Solv’s integration with Utexo is that the RGB’s client-side validation keeps transactions confidential while anchored to Bitcoin’s UTXO model. The Lightning Network also enables near-instant, low-fee transactions that finalize in about 50 milliseconds while enterprise APIs simplify adoption for funds, exchanges and decentralized finance ( DeFi) protocols.
The timing coincides with Tether’s RGB-compatible $USDT launch, positioning Solv to capture institutional demand as Bitcoin-native stablecoins gain traction in 2026.
