The ecosystem teams behind Shiba Inu and K9 Finance set the crypto community abuzz after revealing plans to roll out a “retroactive” airdrop on leading L2 blockchain Shibarium.
In an X post on May 24, Shiba Inu marketing lead Lucie disclosed that K9 co-founder Buzz first mentioned the Shibarium airdrop during a recent interview. According to Lucie, the airdrop requires participants to earn points, which will be swapped for “free tokens.”

To earn points, Lucie stated that participants would be required to bridge their assets to Shibarium, use the L2 blockchain for transactions, and hold tokens like LEASH and KNINE.
While she did not reveal the size of the prize pool, Lucie noted that users will be rewarded based on the number of points accumulated.

K9 Founder Confirms Shibarium Airdrop
Interestingly, Buzz confirmed the development, noting that K9 Finance will conduct a retroactive airdrop on Shiba Inu’s L2 blockchain.
According to Buzz, K9 will reward users based on the time they hold KNINE and their engagements with Shibarium, including interacting with Shibarium-based decentralized applications (dApps).
Other actions that will be rewarded include participating in the upcoming testing of K9 dApp and staking KNINE tokens. Buzz emphasized that the airdrop is retroactive, suggesting that users will be rewarded in the future based on their past performance in these activities.
He revealed that the team has already started tracking users’ wallets to ascertain the number of tokens they will receive at the appropriate time.

Notably, K9 did not provide any more essential details about the airdrop, including the duration of the exercise.
Previous Airdrop and Upcoming Launch of K9 dApp
This is not the first airdrop featuring K9. Earlier this month, K9 announced a 420 million KNINE sweepstakes to celebrate its emergence as a Shibarium validator.
Meanwhile, K9, Shiba Inu’s official liquid staking and derivative partner, is effortlessly working to release its much-anticipated staking platform. While the dApp’s testnet version will debut this quarter, the complete mainnet version will launch in Q4.
