Acting Chairwoman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Caroline D. Pham, announced the appointment of new members to the Global Markets Advisory Committee (GMAC), one of the agency’s most important advisory bodies, and its subgroups.
The announcement revealed that Avery Ching, co-founder and CEO of Aptos Labs, has been selected as a member of the committee’s Digital Asset Markets Group.
GMAC is comprised of experts in traditional finance and digital assets and has long provided policy advice to the CFTC, shaping not only U.S. regulatory decisions but also international discussions on global market structure and digital asset regulation.
Pham expressed his pleasure in collaborating with industry leaders such as Aptos CEO Avery Ching, as well as JPMorgan Chase Head of Digital Asset Markets Scott Lucas and Franklin Templeton Senior Vice President Sandy Kaul.
Prior to founding Aptos, Avery Ching led blockchain development, wallet infrastructure, and technical development at Meta’s Diem blockchain project. Ching’s GMAC membership is considered a testament to the growing influence of Web3 technology developers in the global regulatory dialogue.
