OKX Ventures released its cumulative report for 2024, covering the firm’s investments in the past year and top areas of interest for 2025, such as AI agents and DeFi expansion.
The firm made 14 comprehensive projections about the industry’s growth in 2025, much of which focuses on AI developments.
OKX Ventures Sees Potential in AI Agents
OKX Ventures is the investment arm of the leading crypto exchange. The firm carried out significant investments in crypto projects throughout the year, pursuing a highly diversified portfolio of interests. According to its new report, the firm invested over $100 million in 2024 across 60 projects.
In terms of projections, OKX Ventures sees 2025 as the year of AI agents.
“As AI agents reshape the DeFi landscape, developing robust security and governance frameworks becomes critical to harness their potential while safeguarding market integrity. Emphasis should be placed on developing robust cybersecurity defenses… to combat manipulation and ensure fairness,” OKX Ventures’ Partner Jeff Ren told BeInCrypto.
AI agents have attracted a lot of hype in the crypto industry, and it makes sense that the firm wishes to explore their potential. Several top industry experts have predicted that AI agents will become more prominent in 2025, but OKX only made a few ventures into the space so far.

In its 2025 report, however, OKX Ventures made it clear it will focus more on AI agents. The report claimed that these tools will “gradually become crucial entities in the market,” and might reach $1.8 trillion by 2030.
In the near future, the firm predicts that the most immediate advancements will be agent-to-agent interactions and enhanced user-facing interfaces. Although OXK did identify interesting trends with AI agents, its report focused more on concrete data than speculation.
In his discussion with BeInCrypto, Jeff Ren gave a few more notable comments on agent-to-agent interactions and their risks. He claimed that decentralized community participation will be an important safeguard alongside regulation.
Beyond this, however, OKX hasn’t disclosed specific plans for AI agents in the near future. Its founder Star Xu teased a new secret business line that the exchange will be launching in February. However, it’s yet to be disclosed whether this will be related to any AI-based developments.
Overall, AI agents are already seeing massive growth in the market. As of January 2025, AI agent tokens hold a cumulative market cap of nearly $16 billion. This is an impressive trajectory, considering the fact that the AI agents segment didn’t exist a year ago.
