In a post on its verified X account, MEXC said instructions would arrive through registered email and in-app messages. “Your assets remain secure,” it said.
MEXC did not identify a specific regulator, sanctions measure or licensing action behind the decision, or disclose the number of affected accounts in its announcement.
The exchange’s user agreement, marked last updated Oct. 13, lists Russia and Belarus as prohibited jurisdictions. It says MEXC does not provide services or accept user registrations or trading applications in those countries, and requires users not to be residents of prohibited jurisdictions.
MEXC also warned that it would never request payments, account credentials, seed phrases or asset transfers through private messages. It told users to rely on its official website, app, Announcement Center and verified social channels for updates.
The move follows Bitget’s Oct. 17 announcement that it would discontinue services for certain users. Bitget described its closures as “a one-off exercise for certain users only” and said individual notices would specify deadlines and withdrawal arrangements. Its current terms also list Russia and Belarus as prohibited countries.
