Maple, the onchain asset manager known for bridging institutional-grade finance with DeFi, has launched the first-ever perpetual trading integration for its yield-bearing stablecoin, syrupUSDC, on Drift Protocol — Solana’s leading decentralized perpetual futures exchange.

The move lets traders deposit syrupUSDC as margin while earning 7–8% APY, even when positions are open or capital is idle. This reduces the opportunity cost of holding collateral, giving traders a way to generate income that can offset funding fees or be reinvested for higher returns.
To drive early adoption, Maple and Drift have deployed $100,000 in incentives, with an initial supply cap of $50 million for syrupUSDC on Drift.
“This is about unlocking more utility for crypto assets and creating more efficient markets. With Drift, traders can now trade, earn, and compound in one seamless experience.”
Sid Powell, CEO of Maple
Why It Matters for DeFi Traders
Perpetual futures trading is a high-volume, capital-intensive activity. Traditionally, margin collateral sits idle, earning nothing. With syrupUSDC, that collateral can now work double duty — securing trades while simultaneously generating yield.
Drift’s cross-collateral system makes this possible. Unlike most DEXs that limit margin to USD or USDC, Drift can integrate syrupUSDC directly, giving traders the flexibility to run more advanced, capital-efficient strategies.
“By allowing collateral to earn yield while in use, traders can unlock more efficient DeFi strategies and improve returns.”
David Lu, Co-founder of Drift Protocol
Strengthening Solana’s Onchain Capital Markets
The launch builds on syrupUSDC’s expansion to Solana earlier this year, adding another layer of composability to DeFi’s fastest-growing ecosystem. It also positions Drift as a pioneer in yield-bearing margin, potentially setting a new standard for perpetual trading onchain.
Looking ahead, Maple plans to roll out syrupUSDC as a yield-bearing collateral asset across more protocols, broadening its utility beyond Drift and expanding the range of strategies available to traders.
