As interest in Shiba Inu continues to gain momentum, Localcoin has presented an opportunity for Australian users to purchase SHIB from over 160 ATMs in the country.
Leading crypto ATM provider, Localcoin has announced that Australian residents can purchase Shiba Inu (SHIB) at over 160 Bitcoin ATMs. In addition, users can buy Tether (USDT) at any of the Localcoin ATMs in Australia. The company made the announcement in an X post yesterday, emphasizing that it now has wider coverage in Australia.

Localcoin Expands Coverage in Australia
It bears mentioning that Localcoin, a Toronto-based crypto ATM provider, recently expanded its reach into Australia. As of November 2023, the company had only 52 ATMs in Australia. However, it revealed plans to expand its presence in the country by increasing the number of Bitcoin ATMs to over 120.
Interestingly, Localcoin has surpassed this goal, as it now boasts over 160 ATMs in Australia. At press time, Localcoin had 166 ATMs across different parts of Australia: 11 in the Australian Capital Territory, 64 in New South Wales, 20 in Queensland, 5 in South Australia, 44 in Victoria, and 22 in Western Australia.
Although it initially offered access to only Bitcoin, Localcoin currently supports several crypto assets, including Shiba Inu. The ATM provider added Shiba Inu to its list of supported assets in October 2023.
Steps to Purchase Shiba Inu Tokens on Localcoin
Australian users looking to purchase Shiba Inu via any of the Localcoin outlets can follow the steps below.
Download a Wallet: Users are required to download a wallet that supports Shiba Inu. You must ensure that your preferred wallet has an in-built QR code, as it would be needed during the purchase.
Locate a Localcoin ATM: Here, you can use Localcoin’s ATM locator to find the closest crypto ATM in your vicinity.
Initiate Transaction: After locating the ATM, touch its screen to begin your transaction. Select Shiba Inu from the list of supported crypto assets and present your wallet’s QR code to the ATM for scanning.
Finalize Purchase: Once the ATM recognizes your QR code, input the amount of SHIB tokens you wish to purchase. You would be charged a service fee for each transaction. Confirm the transaction details on the screen and proceed with the purchase. If successful, the SHIB tokens will be sent directly to your wallet.
Growing Interest in Shiba Inu
The announcement came at a crucial time when interest in Shiba Inu continued to gain momentum. The Crypto Basic reported last week that Shiba Inu’s daily active addresses surged from 3,100 to 8,400.
On March 5, Shiba Inu’s active addresses peaked at 21,000, marking a 2,000% increase from the daily average recorded in February.
In the meantime, SHIB was trading at $0.00003492, down 0.9% in 24 hours.
