Linea product head says the project will wait for the crypto market to turn bearish again before launching its token generation event.
In a recent post, Declan Fox responds to the results of a poll regarding the project and its community. So far, around 1,000 users have voted on the polls and most have expressed that they are still waiting on a Linea token airdrop to happen.
Based on the poll results, Fox revealed that the team behind the Consensys-backed protocol has chosen to wait for the market to turn bullish again before launching a TGE.
“My takeaways are still to improve communication, reignite excitement around the ecosystem and raise standards across the board (we are Consensys and it’s time to show that), flip all the bears to bulls and then TGE,” said Fox.

At the moment, the crypto market is still in recovery mode after experiencing a slump on April 7. Major tokens like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) crashed alongside the stocks in Asian, European and U.S. markets after President Trump introduced blanket tariffs on imported goods from 180 countries and regions.
At press time, the overall crypto market cap has risen by 1.8% or around $200 billion, from $2.4 trillion to $2.6 trillion in the past 24 hours of trading, according to data from CoinGecko.
In March, former Marketing Lead of Linea, Christopher Kocurek, said in a message to the Discord community that Consensys executives and the project’s board of directors were intent on making the TGE happen in the second quarter of 2025. However, Kocurek has since left the project and joined an “early-stage startup” and no news about the TGE has come about since.

Anticipation towards a Linea token airdrop
Recently, an X user with the handle LineaDegenLover conducted a widespread poll to capture market sentiment among traders regarding the Linea project.
Based on the poll results, 42.3% of users believe the TGE will occur in Q2 2025. After the TGE, nearly 40% of users plan to sell the tokens gained from the airdrop, while nearly 25% of them say they will hold onto their tokens after the airdrop. However, more than 50% admitted that they no longer have faith in the project anymore.
A Polymarket betting pool that ended on April 1 with nearly $3,5 million assets placed on it, showed the odds of a Berachain (BERA) airdrop at 90% and a Linear airdrop at 89% at the beginning of 2025. However, by April 1, only the Berachain airdrop came true, while the end outcome for Linear resulted in a No.
Linea is a zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine rollup established by Consensys on Nov. 13. The Linea Association is described as an independent Swiss non-profit organization, with the goal of advancing the protocol’s open-source decentralized technology and governance.
On the same day, the organization declared that it plans to launch its native token by the end of Q1 2025, which holders can use to take part in the ecosystem’s governance
