KyberSwap recently added Mayan Finance, powered by the Wormhole protocol, to enable seamless cross-chain swaps. This integration expands user access to liquidity across multiple blockchains without leaving the KyberSwap interface. The upgrade offers various swap routes tailored to different use cases, including ultra-fast swaps, large stablecoin transfers, and high-volume flows supported by Wormhole’s liquidity pools.

KyberSwap’s collaboration with Mayan Finance introduces new capabilities for cross-chain transactions. The Swift swap route facilitates cross-chain swaps in as little as four seconds, prioritizing speed for smaller transactions. For stablecoin-heavy or large-value transactions, the MCTP route leverages Circle’s USDC rails to provide secure and efficient transfers.

The WH Swap option taps directly into Wormhole’s deep liquidity pools, delivering tight execution and low slippage for sizable flows. Collectively, these routes optimize swap performance for various transaction sizes and asset types, enabling users to move assets between chains without additional steps or external platforms.

U.S. DOJ Indicts Andean Medjedovic in $65 Million DeFi Hack

This technical update coincides with the public indictment of Andean Medjedovic, the alleged hacker behind large thefts from two DeFi protocols, including KyberSwap and Indexed Finance. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) unsealed charges on February 3, accusing Medjedovic of wire fraud, computer hacking, and attempted extortion.

The indictment states Medjedovic executed “deceptive trades” to exploit vulnerabilities within the protocols, resulting in the theft of roughly $65 million in digital assets. In addition, the DOJ claims Medjedovic attempted to launder the stolen tokens via a crypto-mixing service. Medjedovic is currently at large and is already wanted by Canadian authorities, having failed to appear at a 2021 court summons related to the Indexed Finance hack.

Medjedovic’s history includes major academic achievements in mathematics. He completed high school at the age of 14 in Waterloo, Canada. Subsequently, he enrolled at the University of Waterloo, a prominent institution recognized for mathematics and computer science, and notably the alma mater of Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin.

Medjedovic completed his undergraduate study in mathematics in three years at the age of 17. He also launched a graduate school education, and delivered a master degree thesis a year later, and was said to be applying to Doctorate programs. These qualifications symbolize a good technical background, as the hacking incidents are also complex.
