BlackRock exchanged money market fund shares for digital tokens using the Tokenized Collateral Network (TCN) provided by JPMorgan. They were then sent to Barclays as part of an ancillary transaction between the two financial institutions conducted over the counter. It is not typical for a bank to commercialize a blockchain application. Considering JPMorgan’s overall business volume, the experiment was relatively minor. According to Lobban, with the aid of the blockchain network, Onyx Digital Assets detailed the fact that the collateral was transferred immediately rather than after a complete day. According to him, the technology will increase efficiency by releasing locked capital, which can then be used as collateral for ongoing transactions.
