Bitcoin is showing signs of weakness after failing to hold the top of its recent price range. Traders are now watching whether $BTC drops below $76,000 before making another push toward $80,000 and eventually $90,000.
At the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading around $76,990, down 1.28% over the past 24 hours. The broader crypto market was also falling ahead of two major U.S. events: the Senate’s vote on the CLARITY Act and the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decision.
Bitcoin Is Heading Toward $75K
Bitcoin’s 1H chart shows a liquidity zone between $75,000 and $76,400. A move into this area will trigger stop-losses from traders holding long positions and force some leveraged traders out of the market. Bitcoin will then test recent lows before buyers step in.
Bitcoin has also struggled to stay above $79,000. After rising above that level, $BTC quickly reversed and fell back toward $77,000, confirming strong selling pressure at higher prices.
A break below $76,000 puts $75,000 in focus. A break below $75,000 opens the way toward $73,000 if selling pressure accelerates.
The $75K Sweep Sets Up a Rebound
Bitcoin is likely to test the $75,000 area during the Asia, London, or New York sessions as leveraged long positions are liquidated. If $BTC quickly recovers and reclaims its current range, the move confirms a liquidity sweep rather than the start of a larger downtrend. Traders will then focus on the $78,000–$79,600 area for the first signs of a recovery.
A break above $79,600 puts $80,000 back in focus. A sustained move above $80,000 opens the path toward $81,300 and eventually the psychological $90,000 level. Bitcoin must reclaim the upper part of its current range before the $90,000 target becomes technically convincing.
Fed Decision Will Shape Bitcoin’s Next Move
Meanwhile, Bitcoin’s biggest short-term risk is the Federal Reserve’s decision on Wednesday. The Fed meets September 15–16, and markets largely expect a 0.25% rate hike.
A hawkish Fed strengthens the dollar and puts pressure on risky assets such as Bitcoin. That environment increases selling pressure and puts $75,000 in play.
Bitcoin is also facing uncertainty around the U.S. CLARITY Act. The Senate will vote on the bill Tuesday, and it needs 60 votes to move forward. A failed vote would add another layer of uncertainty to the crypto market.
Bitcoin’s $76K Level Is Key
For now, Bitcoin must hold $76,000–$76,500. Holding this zone keeps $BTC inside its current range and sets up another test of $78,600–$80,000. A clean break below $76,000 sends Bitcoin toward $75,000 and puts $73,000 in focus.
The bullish setup remains intact if Bitcoin sweeps the $75,000 liquidity zone, quickly reclaims the range, and starts making higher highs.
For now, Bitcoin remains caught between macro uncertainty and a technically important trading range. The next decisive break above or below these levels will determine the direction of the next major move.
