Injective has crossed 7 million $INJ burned all-time, combining a one-time burn auction that removed 6.78 million $INJ from circulation with four completed monthly Community BuyBack rounds that have since burned an additional 178,338 $INJ.

🚨 Injective makes history with over 7,000,000 $INJ burned all-time 🚨

The Community BuyBack is the only deflationary mechanism engineered to horizontally scale with ecosystem growth, leveraging dApp-generated revenue to burn $INJ while rewarding loyal ninjas.

The milestone reflects a deflationary tokenomics model that ties token burns directly to ecosystem revenue, with participants earning a share of that revenue in exchange for permanently removing their committed $INJ from supply.

What Is the Injective Community BuyBack?

The Community BuyBack is a monthly program where $INJ holders commit tokens to a shared burn pool and receive a proportional share of revenue generated across the Injective ecosystem. Once the round closes, all committed $INJ is permanently burned onchain. The revenue distributed to participants comes in USDT and other tokens.

The program launched in November 2025, following governance proposal IIP-617, which passed with 99.96% of votes in favor. That proposal established what Injective calls the $INJ Supply Squeeze, a broader deflationary framework that connects the monthly BuyBack burns with Injective’s existing burn auction mechanism.

The logic is that: more activity on the Injective ecosystem generates more protocol revenue, which increases the BuyBack pool, which results in more $INJ being burned each round.

How Does the BuyBack Process Work?

Each monthly round follows four steps, all executed onchain:

  • Whitelist selection: Active Injective users are eligible. A randomized process selects participants from that pool, filtering out bots and gas wars.
  • Slot reservation: Whitelisted users reserve a slot on Injective Hub within a set window. The first round filled in under 24 hours, prompting the team to add 90 extra slots.
  • $INJ commitment: Participants commit however much $INJ they choose during the commitment window. The combined total becomes the burn pool.
  • Revenue distribution and burn: At round close, participants receive their pro rata share of ecosystem revenue. All committed $INJ is permanently burned, with every step publicly verifiable onchain.

Eligibility is based on real network usage. Staking $INJ, using Injective-based decentralized applications, and participating in governance all contribute to whitelist eligibility.

What Have the First Four Rounds Produced?

Four monthly Community BuyBack rounds have been completed since the program launched. The results across all four rounds are as follows:

  • Total $INJ burned: 178,338.03 $INJ
  • Total USD value distributed to participants: $776,344.28
  • Average participant earnings per round: approximately 23.9%
  • Burn growth from Round 223 to Round 226: 49% increase, from 36,900 $INJ to 55,000 $INJ

No round has produced participant earnings below 20%, and burn sizes have grown with each successive round. The BuyBack pool scales with ecosystem revenue, so rounds with higher protocol activity produce larger distributions and larger burns.

The Burn Auction That Started It All

Before the monthly rounds began, Injective ran a one-time burn auction that removed 6.78 million $INJ from circulation. At the time, that represented roughly 7% of total supply and was valued at approximately $32 million. The recurring monthly BuyBack program was launched immediately after, building on that initial supply reduction.

What Makes $INJ Different as a Network Token?

$INJ is the native token of Injective Protocol and serves several functions within the network. It is used for protocol governance, staking, and participation in voting on upgrades and protocol management decisions. Users who stake $INJ and engage with Injective’s decentralized applications are also the ones eligible for the Community BuyBack whitelist, creating a direct link between active participation and deflationary benefit.

Injective is built on the Tendermint consensus system, which provides high throughput and low transaction latency. The network supports cross-chain trading across multiple blockchains and does not charge gas fees for transactions, which lowers the cost barrier for active participation.

Injective Adds $USDC and CCTP Native Integration

The 7 million burn milestone follows a separate announcement made the previous day. Injective confirmed that $USDC, issued by Circle, and the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) are coming to the network. CCTP is Circle’s native bridging infrastructure that allows $USDC to be transferred between supported blockchains without the use of wrapped tokens, maintaining 1:1 capital efficiency throughout.

$USDC currently has over $79 billion in circulation and processed $11.9 trillion in onchain transaction volume in Q4 2025 alone. On Injective, $USDC will adopt the MultiVM Token Standard, making it accessible across both WASM and Solidity virtual machine environments. That means developers building in either environment can settle against the same $USDC liquidity pool without needing to bridge between them.

$USDC is live on Injective’s testnet, with mainnet integration to follow. The addition opens up payment, trading, lending, and cross-chain treasury management use cases for developers and institutions building on Injective.

What Injective’s Burn Milestone Reflects

Injective’s tokenomics model now links three mechanisms together: the completed burn auction, the recurring Community BuyBack, and the broader $INJ Supply Squeeze governance framework. With 6.78 million $INJ removed in the initial auction and 178,338 $INJ burned across four monthly rounds, the all-time burn count sits above 7 million $INJ. Each additional round adds to that figure based on the volume of ecosystem activity in that month, making the burn rate a direct function of how much the network is being used.
