At one point, it even ranked among the top ten most valuable crypto assets in the world. However, while Shiba Inu has lost some of its glory amid the recent market downturn, it continues to preserve a significant portion of the gains accrued since its inception.

Buying Shiba Inu at Launch
Notably, Shiba Inu entered the crypto scene in August 2020 during the global pandemic. According to CoinMarketCap data, Shiba Inu opened for trading on August 2, 2020, at $0.000000001009, with nine zeros.
At this inaugural price, $100 could buy 99.11 billion SHIB tokens. For context, as of today, a $100 investment would buy only 9.32 million SHIB tokens.
Likewise, a $1,000 investment at launch could buy 991.1 billion SHIB tokens. This translates to 93.28 million SHIB tokens today.
Notably, Shiba Inu’s price soared by 8,766,005% from this low starting point to $0.00008845 just a year after launch. This implies that at its peak, those who bought $100 Shiba Inu at the start made around $8.77 million. As for those with a higher investment of $1,000, they made over $87 million.
Indeed, there have been numerous testimonies of financial success from Shiba Inu, though most are regrets of missed fortune after having the rare opportunity to invest in SHIB much earlier.
For instance, a Dubai-based early Shiba Inu investor disclosed investing $4,000 in Shiba Inu around its launch but hurriedly liquidated the holdings during brief market fluctuations. He noted that had he held onto the investment, it would have earned him $70 million.
What Would It Be Worth Today?
Meanwhile, after Shiba Inu canceled five zeros to trade at a peak of $0.00008845, it has since dipped back to lows around $0.000006. However, Shiba Inu is trading at $0.00001081 at press time, marking an 88% dip from its all-time high value.
Yet, at this value, the earliest Shiba Inu investors are still in profit. In particular, at the present price, a $100 investment from five years ago would still be worth $1,071,357. Likewise, a $1,000 investment in SHIB since August 2020 would be worth $10.71 million today, despite the fact that Shiba Inu is trading at 88% below its peak.
This highlights the massive profit that the earliest Shiba Inu investors still enjoy despite the ongoing market downturn. In fact, data from IntoTheBlock shows that 18% of SHIB holders are still profitable at present levels. Meanwhile, a massive 69% are nursing losses, while 13% are at break-even.
