CZ, the founder of Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, made a new post about Ethereum and BNB via his X account. Admitting that he missed the Ethereum opportunity, CZ said that missing the ETH train pushed him to establish BNB and Binance.
Responding to a post on X stating that CZ and Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin are two important names that have promoted the success and global popularity of the cryptocurrency sector, CZ praised Buterin.
“Crypto wouldn’t be what it is today without Vitalik’s contributions, smart contracts, ERC20, NFTs, SBT, L2 and so much more.
“I’m just a regular guy who’s still learning about blockchain.”
When another user asked if he held Ethereum, CZ replied that he held a small amount of ETH.
CZ, who later stated that he met Vitalik Buterin at a conference in 2013, said that although he knew about the ETH ICO in 2014, he did not participate in it and missed a great opportunity.
CZ stated that even if he missed the ETH opportunity, he may not consider launching Binance and BNB, and that a missed opportunity presents another big opportunity.
“There is Ethereum but not a meaningful amount. Might be a little bit here and there in an old wallet. Remember BNB was first launched as an ERC20 token and we need gas fees in ETH.
I missed the whole ETH train right before my eyes. I met Vitalik at a bitcoin conference in 2013. I knew about “ICO” in 2014.
We’re talking about a missed opportunity.
But still, if I had bought ETH that early on, I might not have had the desire to launch Binance or BNB.”
