HBAR Foundation has announced that Tuum Technologies is now live on MetaMask Snaps, making it one of the 34 public snaps to feature on the platform. Consensys has introduced a DID solution built on Hedera. There are 33 additional public snaps available on the platform.
HBAR Foundation has called it a sophisticated plugin, adding that users can conveniently integrate the functionality into their applications. There are no restrictions about how many or what kinds of applications can integrate Snap. It is, however, a surety that Tuum Technologies will help users augment the native capabilities of MetaMask.
Users on the Hedera Network now only need a private key and a Hedera account (in case they don’t have one yet) to access Tuum Technologies. It is available for users across the globe, enabling them to leverage the potential of SSI, an acronym for Self-Sovereign Identity. Users have access to support and a knowledge base for Identify by Tuum Technologies, which falls under the interoperability category and has a version number of 1.5.0.
The development comes days after MetaMask announced launching the open beta version of Snaps for the public. It means that anyone who is interested in trying MetaMask Snaps can join the platform. They are only tasked with sharing their feedback, which will be used to make further improvements. Snaps come in handy for individual developers who seek to override the permission of the platform while developing their products.
It enables individual developers to roll out their innovations in a permissionless manner. This helps them save time to market the product and expand their reach simultaneously. MetaMask has assured the community that while Snaps will be released indirectly by developers, it will not shed away the responsibility of protecting the interests of its customers. Hence, MetaMask will make sure that the developer or Snap features are in AllowList.
Snaps on the list will reflect a more positive image, making it easier for users to determine which ones are secure. Notably, even though MetaMask will maintain the AllowList, it will not do so centrally. MetaMask strongly supports decentralization. Since it does not wish to endanger users, it will continue to monitor the entities in AllowList with scalability as its primary focus.

Users can leverage the capabilities of Snaps to personalize their Web3 experience. Firefox is yet to gain access to Extension v11.0 and above. MetaMask is confident that the product will go live in the days to come. No tentative timeline is available at the time of the articulation of this piece.
Developers contributing to Snaps are those who are not associated with MetaMask, making them totally independent and third-party.
Users can access three categories: interoperability, notifications, and transaction insight. Snaps only have limited access to users and their information. It is recommended that they review the permissions before integrating the functionality into their product.
