Bitget, a Seychelles-based cryptocurrency exchange, has announced that it will expand its operations to include tokenized shares and commodities, such as gold. Bitget’s CMO, Ignacio Aguirre Franco, stated that the goal of this move was to attract customers who want to trade these assets without the constraints of traditional markets.
Bitget to Debut Tokenized Stock Trading, Expanding From Its Cryptocurrency Roots
Bitget, a Seychelles-based cryptocurrency exchange, is in the midst of a new expansion that will transform it into an all-in-one trading house, including tokenized stocks and gold as part of a reconfiguration.
According to Ignacio Aguirre Franco, Bitget’s CMO, the new goal of the company is to combine the traditional centralized world, which has restrictions because of how it operates, and defi, allowing its customers to take advantage of both worlds.
In an interview with Valor Economico, Aguirre Franco stated:
We have some good things coming. We want to bring more offers. We are an ecosystem with access to everything people do, without having to leave one app for another. Today this is very easy in defi.
The company sees value in becoming an everything-app, offering these services under one platform, similar to what other exchanges, including Robinhood, have done. Nonetheless, Bitget does have crypto roots, and the company sees an opportunity in combining these approaches with usability in mind.
“Usability is what will bring people to the platform. That’s why we do decentralized exchange operations with a centralized exchange. At the end of the day, when you enter the decentralized world, the user interface is difficult, and it is not easy to bring in new users,” Franco Aguirre stressed.
Aguirre was brought in November to implement Bitget’s Universal Exchange philosophy under one roof, a trend that is now part of the philosophy of many crypto companies to retain their customers in their ecosystems.
