Bitcoin is consolidating near $77,900 after recovering from a weekend sell-off, leaving Tuesday’s CLARITY Act vote alongside a clearly defined technical test. The four-hour Binance chart shows $BTC holding above $77,500 after rebounding from the $76,000 area.
However, the price remains below resistance between $80,443.99 and $81,301.38. That places Bitcoin between a key support floor and a major resistance ceiling as traders watch whether the Senate advances the legislation on Tuesday.
CLARITY Act Vote Puts Bitcoin’s $80K Breakout Test in Focus
That regulatory catalyst arrives on September 15, when the Senate is scheduled to vote at 2:15 p.m. ET on cloture for the motion to proceed to H.R. 3633. The measure needs 60 votes to advance. Importantly, the vote is procedural, meaning success would open the next Senate consideration stage rather than complete passage.
Meanwhile, political momentum improved after President Donald Trump accepted about 80% of a bipartisan ethics proposal developed by Senators Thom Tillis and Ruben Gallego. Under the revised language, officials with significant financial interests in cryptocurrency issuers would need to divest those holdings or place them in a blind trust.
It would also expand enforcement authority for state attorneys general. However, Democrats and some Republicans still have concerns over money-laundering safeguards and provisions affecting banks.
Bitcoin Breakout Hinges on $80,444 as $76K Support Stays Key
Even if the CLARITY Act advances, the chart still requires confirmation. Bitcoin must sustain a four-hour move above $80,443.99 to strengthen the recovery. A successful reclaim would place $81,301.38 in focus as the next resistance level.
Clearing both zones would confirm that buyers regained short-term control. Crypto Rover said Sunday that Bitcoin could move higher if the legislation advances. Still, the rebound itself does not prove traders already priced that outcome.
That distinction remains important, as the political event may affect sentiment, while the technical breakout depends on price holding above documented resistance.
If $BTC fails below $80,000, the recovery would remain incomplete. The first support sits near $76,046.58, followed by $75,545.67. A break below that lower zone would weaken the rebound and shift attention toward deeper downside risk.
For now, the setup remains balanced. CLARITY Act progress could strengthen sentiment, but Bitcoin still needs a confirmed reclaim above $80,444. Until then, traders face a clear question: Does $BTC break $80K if the CLARITY Act passes?
