Binance has announced changes to how it shares token information, adding unlock schedules for more transparency.
In a blog post, Binance has announced that starting Feb 14, it will add token unlock schedules to its market capitalization and circulating supply statistics. This move is part of a revision to its token information-sharing policy geared to help users make more educated trading decisions. The new framework will provide users with a clearer and more trustworthy view of token unlock occurrences.
In the past, the number of tokens in the market was referred to as circulating supply, and Binance determined market capitalization by multiplying the price of an asset by its liquidity. With the latest update, Binance will collect information about the token unlock schedules of the listed projects directly. Unlocked tokens will now be taken into account when calculating market capitalization and circulating supply.

The new market capitalization calculation will multiply the current price by the circulating supply, which includes unlocked tokens. Binance will exclude non-publicly accessible tokens in the computation if unlock data is not available. The project overview section of the Binance website or app will provide users with the token unlock timelines and relevant information.
In a different development, Binance has obtained a 60-day pause in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission dispute it is currently involved in. Judge Amy Berman Jackson of the U.S. District Court granted this pause, which will end on April 14. The goal of this temporary break is to allow both parties to consider any new regulatory changes.
The SEC recently established a crypto task force under the direction of Commissioner Hester Peirce. The task force is seen as a first step in drawing clearer regulations for the cryptocurrency sector. Binance has been under investigation for suspected violations of U.S. securities laws, but this legal delay may signal a more favorable regulatory climate.
