Binance’s global Law Enforcement Training Program is the cornerstone of our efforts to advance collaborative security in the digital-asset space. Continuing to expand this effort in Latin America, we have recently hosted a training session for El Salvador law enforcement, with representatives of the Financial Investigation Unit, the National Digital Assets Commission and prosecutors from the Office of the Attorney General in attendance. The session introduced the tools and mechanisms that Binance has in place to support local crime fighters’ investigative work.
A Tailored Session
The event took place at the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic of El Salvador Training School and was designed to meet the specific needs of local law enforcement officials. It addressed the use of Kodex, a purpose-built system facilitating the communication between companies and law enforcement, as well as Binance’s products available in El Salvador and how they are situated within the Salvadoran legal framework. The session also delved into best practices of interpreting and analyzing the information provided by Binance to support investigations, and submitting urgent requests.
René Guzmán, Binance’s Compliance and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for El Salvador, and Daniel Camp, a member of Binance’s Investigation team, led the training session. Among those present were the Deputy Prosecutor of the Financial Investigation Unit, Ana Virginia Samayoa Barón, and directors of the National Digital Assets Commission.
Barón said: “Binance has not only democratized access to cryptocurrencies, but also has driven innovation in the blockchain ecosystem, opening new opportunities for investors and developers around the world. Thus, it is important to communicate and coordinate with this Virtual Asset Service Provider.”
Pablo Vera, Binance’s head of Intelligence and Investigations in the Americas, said that as an industry leader in security and compliance, Binance is committed to continuing working with authorities in El Salvador and throughout the region, contributing to the fight against crime.
Part of the Global Push
The El Salvador session is part of Binance’s ongoing work around the world to provide critical intelligence and education to help strengthen law enforcement’s efforts to prevent, investigate, and combat financial crimes.

In 2023 alone, Binance organized and participated in more than 120 face-to-face and remote trainings and workshops with police and prosecutors’ offices worldwide, including LATAM. In addition, Binance’s investigation teams responded to over 58,000 requests from authorities, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to buttressing the security of the digital finance ecosystem.
