Binance-backed project Elfin Metaverse aims to revive Web3 gaming with an iconic Japanese gaming brand. Elfin Metaverse partnered with MetaMe, which in turn will tap some of the most widely known IPs from Japanese anime.

Elfin Metaverse, a project backed by Binance Labs, has signed a letter of intent with MetaMe, a leading business co-creation company based in Tokyo, Japan. With this move, Elfin Metaverse will gain access to images and branding from top Japanese games, bringing them into a metaverse-based Web3 project. The new products will include interactive storytelling and global tournaments, bringing a cross-border gaming project with on-chain features.

Elfin Metaverse has been supported by Binance Labs since 2021, as a source of strategic investments. Initially, Elfin Kingdom was the main product, targeting BNB Chain users. The gaming hub was also a project started at Binance Incubator.

Elfin Kingdom combined gaming and DeFi, aiming to become a platform for initial farm offerings, combining gaming and fundraising.

The collaboration with MetaMe will build a multiverse product, integrating the existing virtual spaces of Elfin Metaverse and the brands and images of MetaMe. Both partners will build gamified experiences for fans, tied to already popular gaming characters.

MetaMe is expanding its Web3 services, including the creation of an NFT market. MetaBoost will work as Web3 social media for the fandom. Both MetaMe and Elfin Metaverse aim to build a fandom economic zone, built on metaverse and Web3 social media interactions.

The Sanrio Virtual Festival in 2025 is already showcasing the IP and characters in a virtual environment. Elfin Metaverse will expand those experiences, including through more immersive games. In addition to creating virtual spaces, Elfin Metaverse will redistribute the revenue generated by the successful IP and metaverse characters.

Partnerships bring Japanese anime fans to Web3

Elfin Metaverse aims to bring the already established Web2 users by tapping already beloved Japanese anime intellectual property. The fan base can look for a mix of nostalgic storytelling and another attempt to revive Web3 gaming. Currently, Elfin Metaverse keeps its activity with idle games, using established mobile and idle play models. Some of the project’s top mini games include Panda Dash, Flappy Hero, and Elfin Turtle World.

The new brands for Elfin Metaverse will come from platforms like Line. Elfin Metaverse aims to lower the barriers to entry and tap that fan base for its Web3 features.

Elfin Metaverse aims to rebuild its success from the on-chain gaming boom of 2021. The metaverse peaked during that period with over 190K daily active users. In the past years, active users fell to under 3,000 per day, though with signs of more active transactions linked to BNB Chain usage.

Elfin Metaverse is a multi-chain project with a focus on e-sports, wrapped up in a metaverse environment. In addition to expanding its metaverse IP and stories with popular anime, the platform is running ongoing airdrop missions for ELFIN tokens. In addition to the airdrops, Elfin Metaverse is preparing for more competitions and gaming seasons, tied to its tokenomics.

Recently, Elfin Metaverse released its Q1 roadmap, with the goal of jump-starting growth after a slow period for Web3 gaming. The platform will focus on the ELFIN token, while also preparing for utility for its metaverse land NFT.

The partnership with MetaMe is part of the plan to release more casual games based on leading IPs. Onboarding more successful content from existing Web2 fandoms is part of the roadmap for the coming months. The platform is also running tests on a racing game, while also working on the final art and vision of a complex MMO game.
