Pixels, the crypto farming and social game on Ethereum gaming network Ronin, is gearing up to kick off its latest Guild Wars competitive season, called Spore Sports, with $4 million worth of PIXEL tokens up for grabs.
The three-month event, running from December 10, 2024 to March 4, 2025, will challenge players to join guilds and compete in gameplay centered around mushroom cultivation and strategic sabotage.
“This season builds on the success of our inaugural Guild Wars, which resulted in more PIXEL being burned than distributed, and incorporates feedback to deliver an even more rewarding experience,” said Pixels founder and CEO Luke Barwikowski, in a statement. “With this event, we’re experimenting to find out what’s possible in Web3 gaming and laying the groundwork for regular, large-scale competitions that will create a positive outcome for the ecosystem.”
Players can take part in both collaborative and competitive activities, including growing and harvesting mushrooms, disrupting opponents’ crops, and climbing the leaderboards. Participants can earn rewards through individual and team contributions, including PIXEL, Guild Runes, and exclusive in-game items.
The event also introduces tier-4 Ultimate Items, which the developers say are powerful game-changing artifacts that can be unlocked through specific in-game activities in the Cave Hub Map.
Pixels has amassed over 8 million players to date, and saw a surge in activity when it migrated to Ronin in late 2023. February’s PIXEL drop ranks as one of the year’s biggest gaming token launches.
